don't know if its the same car or not, but a good guess would be it is. as even on "truck"forums the 78 jean machine is a rare breed!http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.426000114109808.88157.214118028631352&type=3 :2thumbs:Phil

Interesting truck. In '78 I wanted to but a new Dodge Diesel, but it was out of my budget. Ended buying a '74 Charger instead, which I still have.

In '78, no one made a diesel truck.  :scratchchin:

Thar was the pre Cummins time, but Dodge did offer a Mitsu Diesel in some of their half and three quarter ton trucks- I don't think they sold a lot, but I remember one sitting at the local dealership with "Diesel" scrawlled across the windshield.

I had to go to Mansfield yesterday so I called and left a message that I wanted to look at it. He did call back to let me know that it sold to the first guy that looked at it. He said it was a real solid old truck.

Not the same one. The drivers fender on the one in your link is full of bondo and does not have A/C where the one on craigslist does have A/C.

Never heard of one.  :scratchchin:

This is from the '78 brochure.
The parts book list's extra sound deadner for the engine compartment.
So I would hazard a guess these things were noisy.

Heck yea! Im glad the ol truck got sold, it deserves a better fate. hopefully it went to someone who understands its uniqueness.. and wont spray bomb it black lol.

There's actually a You Tube video of one running, it sounds neat but definately not like a Cummins!
And from what I've read, they were real dogs.  Underpowered, something like 105 HP so turbos became a popular add on.

Sublime/Sixpack

Definitely unique, and deserves to be preserved. I hope the right type of buyer got it.

If it was a shortbed I would have been more tempted. Luckily its a longbed so I can sleep easy.
