Anyone tried one of these trays from Jegs, http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/502000/10002/-1?parentProductId=1660861    :scratchchin:. Seem like a good way to get around using two sets of gaskets on the oil pan.

yea...it's been discussed on other boards....while not a new idea, that type of gasket was mainly designed for a perfectly flat machined surface to seal against unlike the surface of the pans we have now. It is reusable, but maybe only 3 or 4 times before the rubber will not seal tight again

I don't know...I'm on the fence with this

I have used these on older 727 Tranny pans which have basically the same look/feel as older oil pans, and they are the bees knees.

I just replaced the cork gasket which was leaking off my 727 as well with one of these style gaskets and no more leaks  :2thumbs:

Thanks for the replies :2thumbs: Anything that makes work on our engines easier is good in my books :boogie: So just to finish up on this thread, do you still need a small bead of silicone on both sides for added piece of mind, or just a clean surface on both sides :shruggy:

Looks like a nice part. I wonder if those were available when my engine was being built. I would have used that for sure.
