Reliability of Hayden 2765 clutch fan?

Recored the 26" radiator on the 69 charger. Have the maybe "to close for comfort" 1/2 inch clearance between the hub and the expensive recore. Looking at the Hayden and wonder has anyone had any bad issues with this clutch since it's really designed to use with a plastic fan.

OR

I've done the driver's side motor mount fix mentioned in the sticky with the 2 bolts and I do have slightly more than a 1/2 inch clearance. Maybe I should just leave it alone and keep the mopar clutch.

I don't think will buy a Hayden fan clutch again ever ( bought 2 in 3 years )

Recently got a IMPERIAL unit, from Advance, same price than Hayden... WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

I use the 2765 hayden, it sits 1.25" away from the radiator, I haven't had any issues to date but it hasn't seen a lot of miles either. I was a little uncomfortable with the standard clutch being so close ( .58" by the specs on the clutch). I have the universal 18" 6 blade aluminium fan.

Nacho - interested to know how the hayden clutch failed, were you running the 2765, what fan do you run, what difference do you notice? Cheers.

Nacho-RT74

Stock 7 blades fan ( AC car ), yes that same PN as far I recall... I can't recall how failed both, but did. I think still have it around... got loosen I think. Now is kinda stuck.

the Imperial unit I'm using now is dragging as must be dragging ( HD unit )

My car came with the 7 blade fixed fan. I weighed this and compared it to the 18 1/4" universal that I am using. The original came in at a hefty 2253 grams, the aluminium one weighs 1159 grams. The factory fixed fan would be heavier than the factory clutch fan but comparable. I imagine weight would be a contributing factor in the failure. The 2765 is a standard duty where is the factory clutch is available in a HD unit. Anyway, mine is functioning OK at present but if it lets me down I will add to the thread.

Just checked the order... Part No. 215046

I had to get somebody from the board buying in my name since Advance doesn't take order from overseas customers

but I got the car 14 years ago STILL WITH THE FACTORY ONE IN WORKING ORDER, LOL... so it lived 25 years plus the time I used... maybe 8 years more, for a while the Hayden units less than 1 year each.

yes you can be right... I don't recall the exact PN, but pretty much similar to that one... just HD for AC car. Which ever PN it really was, didn't last long :P

I guess what I am saying is that the 2765 clutch is probably not designed to be used with a heavy high pitch fan, bit like a small boat engine trying to drive a big prop at full speed, pretty soon its going to puke its lunch, where the right combo will run for years. Personally I would rather run the HD clutch but the lack of room scares me.

My 2765 is like 8 or 9 years old by now  :shruggy:  ?

But I used some 6 blade Imperial 18" fan I got from autozone with it instead of a stock fan.

forgot to say... the Imperial HD unit keeps me with gauge at 20% of scale, where the MP ( non HD ) got me on maybe 35-40% of gauge scale and Hayden unit ( last one non HD ) got me on 60-70% of scale. Everyone with same fan, radiator and sender... actual T stat is 180º but MP was used with 195º and 180º on each engine setup and didn't change substancially really...

even the engine setup changed, I think my actual setup makes more heat than before in engine bay, however, gauge reads cooler
