Nice to see the process.  I for one would love to see more of this type of stuff in everyone's threads!

Sure seems simple to do..... :yesnod:

BUT.....it always seems simple when someone who knows what they are doing......is doing it. :yesnod:

Seriously.....thanks. Showing us how to break it down into smaller, easier to do steps, helps.

And sometimes all they need to do is give us some examples. I know I am an "example guy" show me how and I'll run with it!
I agree, thank you for showing us how!

Here are some more pics of the repair by the a pillar.

This thread is just as good as your work, and your work is fantastic!
I look at mine and parts of it scare me, then I come here and what you need to fix makes mine look simple!

Hey Ger, where do you get your patch panels? Local steel supply?
I have Alro near me, but I need to know exactly what to order....
They have
hot rolled sheets
cold rolled sheets
galvanized sheets
galvannealed sheets
aluminized sheets

Any idea?

What gauge metal do you buy?

I bought a couple of pieces 2 foot by 4 foot 18 guage and to tell you the truth, I am not sure if it is cold or hot rolled, but it is very nice to work with. I have tried to use some satin coat sheets but it was too hard to work. When I went to purchase  the 18 guage sheets, the guys at the shop asked what I was going to do with it and I told them to fix sheetmetal on an old car. If you want to know I could call them.

Nice work, amazing what you can do with some time and simple tools.  :2thumbs:

Hot rolled sheet would probably have the most malleability of the bunch, anything cold rolled or drawn starts to get work hardened and would be tougher to form and more likely to crack.

I've been making some progress as of late. Repaired lower cowl area by passenger a-pillar, and fitted both hinge pillars. They both needed some tweaking to fit properly.

Looking great Ger! :2thumbs:

I would like to make a request.
Can you include as many pictures as possible of the process you go through to fix these areas?
I know my car has many of the same issues and bad areas. And I would GREATLY appreciate you showing the details of how you fix these areas.
Thank you
Don

Hi Don, thanks for getting me motivated to post some more pics. I have installed the inner fender, cleaned up rear frame rails only to discover that a mouse had another (the fourth one and last one) house in the left rail. It might not be popular but I chose to repair said rail and was able to weld both sides and believe it to be strong. Welded in the rear frame cross tie and upper gas tank piece.
