The chrome is back.... finally.  The tough part was the power window switches.  They were pretty rough.  I've got a "before" photo here as well as an after.

Here's a couple of the console top.  It's been detailed/painted after the re-chrome.  The off color brownish spots on the large piece - that's just the photo - it's not really there.

Looks great. I'll need to do the same to my console pieces too, when I can scrounge up the cash.

The job you're doing looks awesome, but I do have to question the silver paint inside the power window switches. I've never seen that; not even on NOS switches.

Ive seen them like that on pre 68 stuff ,but never on a 68. Maybe its an early car quirck?
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .

Never seen the 68 switches in anything but all chrome either.  That said, it sure looks nice doesn't it?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Our understanding is that it was like that on the early cars - that said, we could be wrong and this is great input. My car is a November 67 car. I'll look into it. Thanks. If any of you guys know for sure, please post it up. I'd obviously like to know what's correct.

So who did the re chrome job?

There are a couple shops these guys use that are local to the Van Nuys area. One is Van Nuys Plating, and the other is Astro.  Astro was used here.

Just an update -

My Redline tires are in - going on the Mags tomorrow.  Polishing of my trim pieces etc, should be done mid-week and this will allow us to get the grille on.  Correct radiator should be in later this week, and I'm hoping my seats are done by the end of the week - early next week the latest.  My steel spare wheel should also be in late this week along w/ my jack.  The date coded tinted glass is in and will go on soon as well.  Not a ton left to do - really hoping we can get this finished in the next 4-weeks!

Also, should note that we exchanged my dash for one that was completely restored  (sending my beat up dash was to reduce the price of the restored one we were getting back)  Turns out the restored one was a colossal POS.  The ones on his site were mint - and what he sent us was a total disaster.  At this point we're doing the restoration ourselves and if the guy doesn't pay back what we feel he owes, I will be posting his business up here to make sure everyone knows to avoid him like the plague.

Please do. I hate hearing about this crap. It's bad enough that this is an expensive hobby let alone getting ripped off. Hopefully he will man up.

I'm in the mist of doing my dash and I can see why someone would turn to the pros. It's very time consuming work.

Keep up the good work. Love your car.

Yeah thanks guys.  My biggest concern now is that this delay might cause me to miss Spring Fling on April 5-6.  We're going to be a little tight on schedule anyway, but the show is literally a couple blocks from where the car is being done.  I've got some friends and family coming in and we were going to make a weekend of it in the LA area and "unveil" the car at the same time.

I think we're still OK, but if we get any other "surprises" between now and then I might miss it.  Second and third weeks in March should be when most of what's left gets done.  I'll just have to see where we're at then and hopefully we can still make it.

Saturday's a good day for the grille...

First couple of photos are into the sun so the headlamp covers look a bit grey, but the last couple show it better.  Yeah the "Charger"  emblem looks a bit crooked right now.  I haven't been able to see the grille in person yet, but from what I'm told the photos don't quite do it justice.

You can see on one of the photos that the car was actually rolled out of the shop and into the light of day for the first time in a long time.  I've got a few shots of the entire car as she sits now, I'll post them up later when I get more time.

As I mentioned in the last post, the car was finally rolled outside for the first time in months and I have a few photos here before she was rolled back in.  It was later in the afternoon, and the sun was just about down, but you can at least get an idea of what she looks like at this point.  As you can see the car's still sitting way up high (especially in front) and that will be taken care of later.  I'm expecting about an inch and a half lower in the rear and 3+ inches down in front.

Also, I've got several photos of some parts and pieces that have been restored, and I'll try to get them up over the next few days.  Hope you guys like these, she's almost there.....

(oh, and no that's not a scratch in the paint on the first photo - just a reflection)
