Interior Seam Seal

As I move along in restoring my 68 Charger I am now in the process of getting the floor pans cleaned up and ready for a coating of Rust Oleum bed liner. I have seen this product being used and it works really well and does the job easily and economically. The old black seam seal in between the floor pans and rear wheel wells have become as brittle as can be and has been removed and the seam areas cleaned.  I have very little rust on the pans themselves and will treat that with POR-15 and then overcoat with the bed liner and install the new carpet.  Should I just find some basic seam sealer for those seam areas just to be sure or just use the bed liner which is flexible and just cover the seam areas?  The floors are very solid so I guess I am lucky in that respect.  Yeah I have a ton of questions but how else does one learn! Asking and doing is the way!  LOL  Thanks again

this is from brian AKA 1HOTDAYTONA,,,,,,,,,,,As for seam sealer,We use the 3m 2 part stuff for all of the outer body seams such as valance corners door jambs, etc. The floors we use the upol brushable stuff in a caulk gun tube.

when you sealing  joints in floor / trunk pans etc etc , don't be in a rush  , make sure it gets all in the seam , brush the sealer across the over lap join / seam , so you know its filled , then one quick brush down seam to make it look pleaseing to the eye

Make sure you have primer in those seams before you apply the sealer.  The sealer goes on before the final paint so in your case do the por thing, sealer and then spray the bed liner.  Are you trying to make that thing bulletproof?

Just trying to get it so there are no issues with the pans. The pans are in great shape and so are the seams with a few minor rust areas along the edges of the wheels wells/floor pan seams.  Nothing that some elbow grease, rust neutralizer and POR15 can't fix.  Then do some basic sealing with maybe ribbon seal but nothing like the factory and overcoat with Rustoleum Bed Liner.  Everything is covered up by carpet and the car is stored inside 24/7 and it never goes out during a storm if I can help it. So making it bullet proof I think may be overkill since it's not a daily driver which would need to be bullet proof. Make any sense?

Sounds perfectly fine.  You don't have to do the bedliner but it certainly won't have a negative impact so it's personal taste.
