 my numbers matching  340 71 roadrunner came with a 3:23 LSD 8 1/4 diff ? have been told there was a shortage of 8 3/4 so sb got 8 1/4 and bb got 9 1/4  anyway my question is just how strong is this diff ? eberg says it should take 500 hp no probs but other people say "weak as piss" throw it away. as it is I'm not game to do a burnout in case one of  my "wheels come flying off". can this really happen ? can this diff be "built" to handle a warm 340? thanks Phil

IIRC, the 8 1/4 rear got C Clips and if you break an axle, your wheel can "Get lost"..Just ask any Chebby guy running slicks and a 12 Bolt.
