now if that heart attack would've killed that poor dude, would cheney get charged with manslaughter??  ----but then again, that's probably not nearly as serious as someone having consentual sex.---

I can shed a little light on this.

About a year and a half ago a guy south of here saw a bunch of geese on the edge of his field near one of his stock damns.  He had a rifle with him and fired a couple shots toward the geese to scare them off.  After they didn't fly away he realized that the geese were decoys and a couple guys were hunting there.  He went over to make sure things were ok.  When he got there he found that he shot 1 of the 2 guys right between the eyes.  The bullet richocheted off the water and hit the hunter.  He was charged with given a sentence of community service for a couple reasons.
1) it was an accident
2) although the land was available for walk-in hunting the hunters should have talked to the owner of the land first and tell them they were going to be hunting.
It was a really bad deal and I know the guy's dad.  Some say he got too light of a sentence but I know this guy is going to think about what he did for the rest of his life.

As for the Cheney incident.  When I first heard the story I thought the guy got "peppered."  This happens all the time when bird hunting.  I get peppered every time I go pheasant hunting.  99.9% of the time the BB's are slowed way down and don't penetrate the skin at all.  When you see the hunter down field shoot count 1, 2 then dip your hat.  It'll keep you from being hit in the eye.  Now once in a while you catch a BB that has enough zip left in it to break the skin.  It hurts but so does stubbing your toe and you don't die from that.

The fact that the guy didn't have his head blown off tells me he was at least 25-30 yards away (modified choke 28 gauge).  I don't know how the guy having a BB move to his heart is going to affect Cheney.  It is possible he'll be charged with manslaughter if the guy dies but I doubt it.

BTW Cheney goes pheasant hunting over by Pierre every year, at an undisclosed location of course.  ;)
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

OHHH, I thought he was "peasant" hunting... couldn't figure out why he shot a rich guy...

So what would your conservative media be reporting if this accident had been reversed? Probably still wouldnt be a big deal huh? Just another unfortunate hunting accident  ;)

my73charger

My whole issue is how there seems to be a sense of entitlement in the media and how they act like ravenous wolves on every news item.  The media types CANNOT wait for another attack in this country.  They will be like old ladies running next door with the latest gossip.  Also, everyone to the left acts as though the VP attempted to kill this guy and then try and cover it up.  I know that I for one would be mad as hell if it had been someone in my family that had been shot and word got out to the press before the family knew about it. :flame:

My friend, my point is in an event like this when it comes to the media it doesnt matter wether there left or right, its news and thats what they eat up, puts money in there pockets and it doesnt matter how the story looks.

my73charger

I see your point.  Thats what angers me about the media I guess.  Ok, next subject....

Yes the the whitehouse withheld the info,.. what else you think they're sitting on?.. How about this?.. Who leaked the I.D. of the CIA Op?.

You know nothing about the press, except what you parrot,. liberal media?..

Know enough about the press, and that's not to buy a newspaper.

Am I an idiot for not wanting to read their drivel?  Is this wooing more readership?

There's a reason newspaper readership has been and is on the decline.

Quote...  puts money in there pockets and it doesnt matter how the story looks.

Or, could it be they are driving more viewers away?  Too much "slant" on what little coverage I've paid any attention to.

Would like to think it's due to a slow news day, they are really reaching, (yawn).

To the point now the evening news is who got murdered, raped, robbed, or in an accident, same stuff over and over again, night after night........ morbid, how do people watch that stuff?

Still like to see the weather and the sports.

What does whick mean? What does enrollin mean? What is journaism? Are you on the advertising end of things Strat? ;)

Anyway, I took the classes and worked for two small newspapers and dealt with several others and while there is no organized liberal conspiracy in the media the plain and simple fact is that a majority of those who run the media outlets and work there (and I don't mean the owners) are very politically liberal people. Therefore the stuff oozes out of them whether they plan it to or not. For the most part, however, they typically try to remain unbiased in their reporting but I think it's more what they decide to report on that shows their true colors. Meanwhile they are oblivious to this because their opinions are so deeply ingrained it just comes out of them regardless of their best efforts. In short they will preach the gospel of fair and balanced reporting and then subconsciously lean to the left when they gather their information and write the stories, especially those stories that touch on politically hot topics.

The Cheney thing: it's a lot like the incident that took place in the waters beneath the Edgartown Bridge except Harry Whittington didn't die like Mary Jo Kopechne did and there weren't a bunch of lies and attempted cover-ups.

The story goes from peppered with shot, to a "minor heart attack."  Since when is a heart attack minor.  Oh yeah, when the white house is involved.

"I guess the guy is going to be OK," Leno said. "When the ambulance got there, out of force of habit they put Cheney on the stretcher. ... When people found out he shot a lawyer, his popularity is now at 92 percent."

Democratic staffers on Capitol Hill circulated a quote from President Bush, in a 2000 interview with the Houston Chronicle, in which he hailed Cheney as "somebody who is going to shoot straight with the American people."

"Bush-Quail '06,"

"The CIA assured Cheney that Harry Whittington was actually a pheasant,"

The Herald in Scotland declared, "Cheney Bags a Lawyer," while the Sydney Morning Herald headlined its story "Cheney Hunts Quail and the World Ducks."

Hound:

Sorry, I guess your right, I did spell a bunch'a words wrong, I'm afraid I got pissed off, that some folks are so quick to brand the media "liberal" and equate the press with "Bad". If the press didn't "dog" the Politicians and  "dig" around for what we are not told allot more "stuff" would go on...  the "Media" is guilty of excesses of course but so is the government.   Examples abound, but choose to ignore our system of checks and balances at "our" risk.
I feel strongly about these issues and I wont apologise for that. I'm not gonna bury my head in the sand...
Can I intrest you in a subscription to Pravda?..

By the way, ALL print subscriptions are down, mostly due to kids who no longer read, folks who get their info from television (If at all) and the tremendous growth of the  interenet.
How many magazines and newspapers do you receive, how about the mopar mags?.. has the internet proved to be a better deal?..
Discussion is one thing, blind allegiance is another...

It's newsworthy because the information that took too long to be shared happened this time to be in regards to the Vice President accidentally shooting someone. If the communications daisy chain took so long to reveal something like that, who's to say it doesn't take equally as long to reveal something even more serious?

Typical of this administration, shoot first and put a spin on the story later.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
