My heart was really set on a 68 charger R/T. I put a post in cars wanted with no response as of yet. Here is my question, I have been in contact with someone who has a 69 R/T. I have a slight preferance to the 68 because I like the front grill and the tail lights a little more than the 69's . So I wanted to try to post a facebook page that you can see the pics of the 69. This is not a numbers matching engine or trans but I wanted to get a idea on a price that I should offer if I would decide to try to purchase this car. I'm trying to find out if he has pictures of the restoration but the by the pics on this page it looks very nice. So the question is would you hold out for the 68, they are hard to find. or try to get this 69 that is close to me. Im not looking to purchase for a few months just to try and see if a 68 will show up. but this might be a option as there are just not a lot of these cars left and the market has gone down so people are reluctant to sell their car. Thanks    http://www.facebook.com/charger.rt.566/photos_stream

Looks pretty good by the pics IMO

I see he has pics of the build sheet and fender tag........ Im thinking $30-38k if he isn't desperate to sell.

When I was looking for a 69, I found a 68 and bought it... Never really loved the car, just liked it a lot.

When I was looking for a 69, again, all I found were 68s, but held out, then found one, then another... I would buy another, for the right price...

The car in the pics looks to me like it was "restored" by a Chevy guy. There are some things which do not look to be typical Mopar build patterns. But I'd give 30k for that car, if the numbers matched.

There are guys on here that "hold out" for years waiting for the one to come. Its just the fact of are you "settling for another" and if you are will, you be happy or will it always nag at you in your sleep. I would say if you want just a driver and not plan a full restore then buy a 69' and wait for your 98' to come along. if you find one to buy, you might find yourself torn between selling your 69' to fund the 68' or you may keep it, buy the 98' and then go all out and buy a 70'  :D
Restoring a charger is like a saying I heard along time ago "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it".... Jesus I wish I could remember who said that...

Really? Like what?

I know it was mentioned to not have the original motor but it does have a 4 speed, console, and Dana rear end. The car seems to be reasonably restored.....I think it definitely worth in the high $30k range.

35 k and the shifter knob is horrible
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

IF # match, offer 30K, they are worth more than the 68.
too many to list!

Hold out for the '68.  Never settle.  Plenty 68's out there and cheaper than 69's.

FWIW this car was on Ebay several times over the summer, never met reserve.

Where are you?  I'll keep an eye open for one.  They tend to pop up from time to time in metro Detroit.

Oh and save yourself some time and headaches and look for private sales only, don't bother with dealers.

I'm in Pennsylvania. I do have a post in the cars wanted section that is titled 68 charger R/T. Thanks again. Any one looking for the 69 R/T on the facebook page I posted, He wanted 45k 6 months ago. It was on ebay at that time. He contacted me about 2 weeks ago to let me know he might be able to come down a little. If anyone else is interested you can pm me for a phone number. The 69 is also in Pa.

Hold off for the 68 that you want.  Just keep your eyes open.  If you find something, many people on this board will help you.  If I see anything in the Midwest, I'll let you know.   What until March and you should see more cars coming on the market.

Hotrod, be sure to place a wanted ad on Craigslist as well.  It took me a few months but it's how I found mine.  Tucked away in a garage 30 minutes from my house.

There's a few 68's in my area and although one is a rare 383 4 speed, no R/T's at the moment but I'll keep an eye open.

Really? For Sale? Do you have any info/contact info for that car? I'm always looking for 'em to add to my registry.   ;)

I told the seller last summer his tailpanel was painted wrong and he replied he was going to have it fixed.  Not sure if he ever did.  This car's been for sale for a long time.

Here's a few more in my area:

That QQ1 68 4spd has been for sale since at least 09.  It was the first car I looked at in 10.  I can find the thread with the report on it if you like.  Yes the claim of 1 in 6 is valid. Just was crappie body work and way over priced.

I love the fender tag though.  I would buy it if i won the lottery

A/C with a big block and a 4-speed. Only with the 383 4-bbl could you have a manual transmission and air conditioning. Not an option with the R/T's and 383 2-bbl.
