since my car is not near me right now I thought one of you all may be able to help me out. On a 71-74 dodge charger, automatic car. How far down does the button push to release the shifter so you can shift? I am wanting to say it is approximately 1/2" Does anybody know how far off hand?

Mine is a 73 T handle and it is almost all the way in. 1/2 inch and then some.

I use to press the push button flush with bezel, but pretty sure with around 1/3" of its travel is already working
