Charger Jack

My friend pick up a 68, the bumper jack in his is a bit different.  The mechanism is correct but the pole is not the t type with protruded teeth, it is more a smooth rectangular type, hollow in the center.  What is this for?  Could it be for another year Charger or some glitch in production.  Seems to be the original one.  Thought there was only one.
