How does this light work? I plug a bulb into the socket and it stays on all the time. There is a wire hanging down from the console opening button that I am sure goes somewhere to break the circuit but where does it go? No wiring diagram I have, even a shop manual, shows this. Thanks

The lights on the side should light up when the door is opened or you switch the interior light on. It would appear your socket is wired to constant power.

Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.

If you are referring to the one inside the console compartment, there should be a switch that mounts in a bracket near the hinge to the compartment lid.  It works much like the door jamb switches or a glovebox one.

Here is an old pic of mine.  Yes, there is a switch and it should have constant power but the switch should turn it on and off when the lid closes etc.
Is the switch there?

There's a light in there?  Adding to list of to do stuff...

It's 66 and 67 only, no worries about getting it done on your car Dino. ;)

Well I shouldn't...but I kinda changed my console and put a 66-67 armrest in place of the console door (thanks to Bob) so now I need a light.   :icon_smile_big:

Hey Dino - Before you put the light in there you need to change those CD's into 8 Tracks!

Ghoste

If I can find and if you want it Dino, I have a template somewhere to cut the console for the light.

Nah CD's are dated now as well, they fit just fine in that car.
I wish I had looked at this picture sooner, I was wondering where those CD's went...

If you bump into it I'd be happy to see it but don't waste time looking though.
I may use one of those wireless lights for it.  It would be nice to have a light in there so I don't have to fiddle with the overly sensitive dash switch trying to get the dome light to go on but it doesn't need to be stock.  If it's easy to make it stock then sure but I won't lose sleep over an aftermarket light in the console either.  :icon_smile_big:

The method you are talking about is probably a lot easier than cutting a hole in the console and then getting a 66-67 light and wiring it in there.

Probably vut I may end up cutting it anyway.  I would like to alter the console by putting compartments in it but since I don't know what trans I'm going to end up with I can't decide just yet.  When the time comes I may look for a beat up console to play with as mine is in very good shape...except that it's green...

Yeah wireless light will do for now.   :yesnod:
