Triple black R/T SE resto thread #2

69 OUR/TEA

After doing a rotiss paint/body resto on member RTSE's triple black R/T SE 4spd car, then doing my B5 69 R/T complete resto (sold),now finally get to tear into my own car.
I bought the car in 2009,it is a Cal black plate car, came from there in 03.Very excited to have found it as it is a real clean solid Charger, but most of all my dream Charger,a real R/T 3x9 car,the SE part was a bonus. The car is still all orig panels with the only rust issue being some pitting and pinholes on the trunk floor(probably gonna buy a one piece AMD and just use the very middle lower pan leaving all the factory spotwelds, seams, etc). And as usual, the rest of the body is basically years of dents and waves to be straightened.
Pulled some panels off already earlier this year to do bodywork on when I had some spare time, but now it's time to rip everything out and get busy on it.
Having lifts makes life so much easier, they are worth every penny.I used the 2 post lift to take the exhaust and tranny out from the bottom, and the arms of the lift to pull the eng out from the top. Will def assemble eng/tranny on K frame when done and lower car over in one shot.
After the drivetrain was pulled, the car went back into my workshop area and took out the front suspension, rear, gas tank, interior, etc. For guys with low ceilings, these mid rise scissor lifts are worth every penny as well,very,very,usefull.Brian(1hotdaytona)talked me into one of these,he's had one for years in his shop and uses is a alot.
Now getting ready to start sending out the stuff to be rebuilt/restored,booster,master,gauges,hinges,wiper motor, etc.
And best of all,the bodywork !!!!!!!!

Putting it all together is always more fun & rewarding than taking it apart. In time, you'll be there.  Have you figured out what shade of orange it'll be painted yet?   :smilielol:

see you have grey behind  the side marker reflector housings ,  i did too ,  could not work it out , cause the factory primer was red oxide color !  & no sign of gray under the red primer  ,  could not work out if it was & imprint of the gasket or  :scratchchin:

Yes Bill, when I went to see the car,the carpet wasn't in it,so I got to see the floors, and was very happy when I saw the orig red oxcide primer in that nice of shape. The car had weird crap done to it,you do remember the AMC door handles, right !!! :brickwall: There is also a little square hole in the bottom of each rocker panel that was cut out for whatever reason, that I have to weld in a patch. And on the Dutchman panel, there are 2 drilled holes, about 1/2'' round just behind the lower corners, now have bondo covering them.At sometime there must have been something bolted there ?????

Skyview69

Nice work...Can't wait to see the final product.  :yesnod: Wish you could work on my car  :coolgleamA:

yeah , my original front fenders were the same  , light gray primer behind the side marker housings ,
yours has loads of red oxide inside  ,  mine was just the dark gray factory primer dip to about 2 thirds the way up the fire wall , then bare metal  :o  luckily mine was still pretty much bare metal & some light surface rust
loads of yellow on floor though , not a trace of red oxide in side , just on exterior panels ,
think i took a few pictures of the gray primer on mine , thinking this is odd  , will have to have a look  ,  course did not take many pictures doing mine , it was the days before  every one had a digital camera  , even home computers & internet ,
