Hello everyone, Just went to the 10'x20' storage unit that came with the 69 charger purchase and pulled out this 440 with a 68 cast date. There is tons of parts from the late 70's. Check out the picture.

Was your car originally a 440 car (and any chance this is the matching engine)?

JB400

Now that is an old time oil pan.  1st one I've seen, but have heard of that mod of sticking the centerlink through the pan.  Any other cool period aftermarket parts that came with it?

Race oil pan susp goes thru the middle

Back in the day a yellow 69 charger ran around and also sat at a Bristol PA gas station with a superbird wing.Any traces of yellow on your 69 charger.I think I see some on the firewall and 1/4 caps

I inquired on this board for that charger car and found past owners

Yes this charger was yellow 318 car was owned by a body shop owner who street raced it in the late 70's in southwest pa. It sat in the body shop till it closed in 2008 then I found it 5 month's ago at his house when he was having a yard sale I bought some body shop equipment that was not in the yard and went to the garage to get the stuff when I saw the car.I talked to him about what he was doing with the car and about 5 months later I brought it home. I am the second owner his parents bought the car new in 69. There is alot of vintage street racing parts that i am not sure if I am going to use or not. Not able to get the vin on the motor yet due to alot of paint on it. Will post anything I will not use. Check out the picture of what it looked like when I found it.

Reminds me of one of those 'we will come and take the junk out of your garage for free' ads.  Did you try?   :icon_smile_big:

No I have not tried one of those will take your junk for free adds yet, I am not sure if I want too :icon_smile_big: It took my brother and I 3 hours just to get the car out of the gararge due to the car had so much junk inside the car never mind the shear amount of things on top of it too. But it's worth it looking in my garage and seeing a 69 charger.

It has stamped 440 and it looks like hp/rb? I might be wrong.hard to read the letters, does this sound correct. Thanks for your help.

tan top

don't know enough about this  ,  but  !   should have a  letter stamped before the  440   , should be E for 69 model year going by the casting date looks late enough  :yesnod:
now this is what i do not know !!  if a factory replacement  , would it have the  series/ year letter stamped , cause there is / was no telling what year car the replacement  motor was going in !

you say there is a  HP on the pad too  ,  because you say there is no stamped vin ,  makes me think its factory , warranty or over the counter HP motor  , if it was just sold as a block would not have HP stamped on it ,  :shruggy:
think it is  / was  a warranty or over the counter  motor originally ,   just a guess on my part , there are guys on this site that will have far more knollage on this stuff ,

should have some numbers , stamped on that pad too ( assembly date ) , in the lower left area ,

:popcrn:

I was wrong I was able to remove paint and date is 9-25  440 and there is a T BW.No HP. Also there is a direct line from oil pump to cam? I also have a picture of the casting date too. Not sure what these number's mean. Please help. Thanks White.

the digits  circled in green  ,  don't look like factory stampings  , hazarding a guess now ,  it is a  warranty or parts department over the counter  block, originally
thats when it  was assembled   , if that is the assembly date stamping  :yesnod:

i think the WT on the pad is water test  ,

looks like some has done work on it too , looking like pop up pistons , that  hard line from pump to lifter oil way  , forget exactly  what thats for  ,  but thinking its something to do with making sure the rod & main bearings are not starved  of oil at high RPM , remember reading about mods like that in an old DC speed parts book  or similar  form the 70s , don't quote me  , me though , cant be 100% sure , so long ago i read this stuff , same deal with the oil pan  prostock type  , more often than not would have duel feed  & a swinging pick up ,
