Where do I position a floor jack and stands on the 68?

Hi guys Please could someone give me the low down on jacking up the 68, Where is the best place to jack up from and positioning of stands that will be safe and bring no harm to the car

Front end, back end......both......or what?    Long term....short term?

On the front,  you can lift from the frame rail, under the k member, or under the lower control arm.  On the rear, you can lift under the rear axle or under the frame rail.   Do not try to lift the car with the jack under the floor, you'll buckle it.  Jackstands can be placed under the frame rails, lower control arms, or rear axle; never under the floor.  Make sure your on level floor and the car is level.  Try rocking the car before you get under it.  If it rocks, it isn't safe.

Ideally I like to put the front stands under the rear k-frame bolt heads and the rears under the axle tube as far out as possible.

FYI, you'll figure this out quick enough but you won't be able to use all of the jack stand pad under those k-frame bolts, but it won't hurt anything.

 if your not working on the front or rear suspension  ,   i always put the jack stands under the front lower control arms  , that way the  front suspension bushings / bump stops  are not being  maxed out for long periods of time 
& as for the rear  under the rear axle

should mention also to put the rear end up on jacks first.

the axle holds the stands very well.

the front is subject to some more movement if not perfectly placed.

i leave the jack under the k frame also while working. lets just say i have learned from experience.

Sorry for brining this back.

I got the rear of the car up on jack stands under the axles as far out as I can, but not sure where to place the jack stands up front (lower control arms!?), Please advise

I believe Tan Top mentioned putting them under the lower control arm. (Reply #7)  I would have to agree unless working on the front suspension. Then, I would agree with what Bull said.

I think I'd move your front one more inward to where it sits under the bump stop (the rubber part on the lower control arm).  Other than that, looks great as long as the car is sturdy.
