Just refaced my gauges, and all went well until now.  Put my odometer back together but having a problem setting the odometer, the numbers do not lock when I insert it back into the housing, some continue to revolve.  Read the post by lilwendal on how to do this but not working out, what am I doing wrong?  I set each number one by one, holding each while moving on to the next, but doesn't work. :shruggy:  When I put it back in looks like wheel of fortune, all revolving.

there is a metal tab that is inbetween the dials , it has to lock into a plate as the odometer is inserted

I see what you mean, gave it a shot but was unable to duplicate my original odometer reading if I wanted the tabs to engage, it ended up higher.  Will work on it later.  Knew I would hit a snag at some point, it went too easy. Thanks for the advice.

One other question. When holding the tang on a specific row, should I be able to rotate the numbers to get them to a specific number, don't want to force anything and break them.  That seems to be the only way I can get my settings back.

Just set it at 500 miles and call it "original miles" like 95 percent of the others do. :D

by holding the steel tab & rotating the dial next to it you can adjust each individual dial

Had a feeling that might be it, but didn't want to force anything and break them like I usually do. Never screwed around with a dash, other than just pulling,  so this is learn as you go. Thank you very much!
