Don't know about you all but I have taken quite well to the "new to me" show Fifth Gear which is now being shown on the Velocity Channel.

Anyhow, an episode from a few weeks ago (Series 21, Week 9) profiled the huge American Car show in Sweden. Some of the regulars have posted pics of this in the past but WOW is it over the top. Bucket List for sure.  :yesnod:  Anyone of you Swedes want some company?   Anyhow, Jonny Smith was the one reporting on the show when he dropped that he himself owns and is quite proud of his 68 Charger! I checked out his webpage and it seems he has been working on it over the past few years.

Here is the Channel website and their youtube page where you can catch old episodes:

When I clicked on the youtube page it gave me a random video - "Fifth Gear - Dukes of Hazzard v Starsky & Hutch Shoot-Out"  (ok, probably snacked on my net cookies)

Narrated by Vicki to boot!

That has a familiar ring to it, I recall possibly Hot Rod (?) doing a GL vs S&H article not all that long ago.

Hot Rod done a GL vs. Bandit T/A issue a year ago or so.  Dunno about any S&H vs. GL

Ghoste

That is likely the one I am thinking of as recent then.  I still have this real familiar sense that someone did a DOH vs S&H one.  Could that have been an older issue or possibly even another tv show then?

Ah okay, then I that has got to be where I've seen it.  So it isn't a new program, its just one that I've been completely ignorant about even though I had seen a clip of it.  (no doubt from a link posted here  ) :2thumbs: Thanks.

Dino

That wasn't much of shootout, more of a crawl out.

They do always manage to get the turds don't they?  My car doesn't lean half that and hitting the brakes a bit hard in a turn would flip it around.

What people see in that striped tomato is beyond me.

I blurted out laughing when she uttered that "Striped tomato" comment.  I am sure that they just made arrangements to drive some enthusiast's cars so who knows what kinds of "upgrades" were or were not on each.

She actually called it that?   :icon_smile_big:  I missed that part, only turned on the sound when the GL took off.

I think you are right though but I wish they would do a true test and find a car brought back to stock specs.  Now you have something to compare.

Unfortunately these cars can only go fast in a straight line so on the track they'd still be slower than the average Accord or Corolla.

Ghoste

There is a guy here at work that loves those striped tomato cars so I can ask him.  He will likely ask me what people see in those orange Chargers with the flag on them. (NOT a GL slam from me, I am talking from a Ford lovers perspective-laugh, its supposed to be funny)

Dino

I have nothing against the Torino, but always found it odd that for a souped up cop car they used something that looks like gramps' car, bench seat and all.  Of course this was the mid to late 70's wasn't it?  I guess they were out of cool cars by then.  New ones that is.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

Yeah, I think it was 74 or 75.  I guess there was even less choice in a current tv Mopar to put it against?  There were no 74 or 75 Chargers in a regular tv series were there?

JB400

I thought the S&H was a 76 Torino? :shruggy:

Ghoste

It could very well be.  What year was the show on?

Ghoste

According to these guys it was a 75 and a 76.

Maybe Huggy Bear should have had a 75 Midnight Charger?
