1st 440 block??

i thought the 440 started as a mid-year option in 66, so about feb-mar 1966
i found a block that is stamped 440 but has a date of June 1965
anyone with ideas?

I think the Block in Christine is stamped July of '65.

440 was available in "C" body cars in 66

The 1966 Imperial had the 440 as its only motor, available on day one of the 66 model year.

Blocks were cast up to a year ahead of time, then buried/stored to relief green stress prior to machining & use,
hence block date codes if original,
are usually up to a year ahead of the actual vehicle manufacture date.
