Got a good deal on this 08 2500, 6.7 w 6 speed auto. Been reading up on this engine and a lot of people install a DPF/EGR delete kit. Has anyone done this? Pros or cons?

Nice truck, but buying a used truck does "stimulated the economy".  Buying a new one does this. just saying. IMHO

Congrats on the new truck! You're gonna love it.

The DPF/EGR fell off of my truck after roughly 1500 miles. I had a 2003 5.9L before getting the 6.7L and with all of the emissions garbage on the 6.7L, it was a turd! Now that it's all gone, the 6.7L is even better than my old 5.9L (which I LOVED).

I stimulated as well 2 months ago with my 2005 Cummins!
The Cummins is an impressive engine. Endless amounts of tork!

DPFE Delete. Better not get in a DOT road check with that "Modified".

Do the delete, trust me, I have "another" brand and will be well worth it.

Congrats on the Truck

I dont think the DOT is gonna worry too much about a private persons vehicle. They are interested in commercial vehicles.   If he has to pass emissions tests in his state then there may be a problem with that.

No emissions testing in Tennessee :2thumbs: At least not yet.

Great looking Dodge! Do the delete you will be happy you did! The only two diesels I personally like are the 5.9 Cummins and the 7.3 Powerstroke. You won't be dissapointed with the truck!  :2thumbs:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Based upon your thread title I was going to ask how much money you borrowed from the Chinese....    :icon_smile_big:

Congrats on your buy!

These guys are here in town http://www.custom-diesel.com/ and I stopped in and spoke to them today.
I can get the complete kit (DPF/EGR with Smarty Jr) for $735.

Found out it cost around $2000 to replace the DPF when it stops up :eek2: so the $735 sounds like a bargain. The peace of mind would be worth that.

Your DPF and resonator is worth about $500 so, if you're willing to sell them, you can recoup some of the initial price. Also worth noting that there is an EPA thing going on right now that has the programmers in a somewhat limited supply at the moment. The Smarty Jr ME (make SURE it's the ME) would be the one that you'd need for the config that you're talking about. If it were me (and it was just a few months ago), I'd go with a unit from H&S. I have the MiniMaxx but the XRT Pro is a great choice as well. The MiniMaxx was worth the additional cost to me mainly because of the gauges. To each their own...

Thanks! My "deer killer" bumpers are being welded together at the moment. Can't wait to get those bolted up. Next summer I'll add a B&W turn over ball and companion hitch. After that I'll be done with the big upgrades for the most part. Although I might add a remote/automated system for the air bags too. Time will tell... Arghhh, these trucks are money pit, just like my Chargers!!!!

Nashville and many of the surrounding areas (Mufreesboro, Lebanon, Hendersonville) do in fact have MARTA emissions.    Good news is that anything made before 1975 is exempt.   So anyone with a Disco Charger, sorry for your luck :P

Dont know man. Havent driven it much yet. Just filler her up ($114) :eek2:

I have decided to install the delete kits and Smarty Jr. From what I have read, I should be somewhere in the low 20s on the highway. I can live with that since my old gas burner only gets 12mpg.
