Your car is flat out going to be top notch sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.    :drool5:

Thanks for the compliment. It's the 4th hemi car I've owned & I do think that this one will be the nicest of them all.

Are you painting it orange? or going with the original color?

Well, it is a proven fact why women's feet are smaller than men's feet; it's so they can get closer to the stove.

Check out his build thread. It'll be Hemi orange with with a flag and a big 01 on the doors (instead of those lame HEMI badges).

i always thought that one day i would own a hemi car.................................but it will take 6 numbers to get me to that point.  and every month they draw the wrong six numbers..... :rotz:  glad you can enjoy owning a hemi car. :yesnod:

I bought my first Hemi car , a 68 Charger R/T (just a body), in 1978 for $800.00. I was making about $4.00 per hour and at the time and $800.00 was all the money in the world to me. My friends all thought I was nuts because at that time you could buy a complete R/T in decent shape for around $900.00-$1,200.00.

Later, in 1986 I had just completed a restoration of a 68 Hemi GTX convertible & I sold it to get the funds needed for getting married and to buy my first house. I sold that car for $16,500.00 & was happy as a clam because I made 3 grand off of it. That was the first (and last) car that I ever made money on.

Fast forward to last spring. I was in the market for a very nice all original 68 4-speed Charger R/T but was having no luck in finding one that suited me. I would have liked to get a Hemi car, but since they were/are priced in the 140-150K range and I know that wasn't going to happen. Other model Hemi cars were going for as "low" as $90K, but they all needed lots of work, so, I soon got that dream out of my head. When this Charger popped up on Moparts in August fpriced at 75K, I immediately got in touch with the seller & arranged a meeting to see it. He told me over the phone that he was open to offers, which to me soundled like he just wanted to unload it. When I saw the car, I offerd him what I thought was a ridiculously low offer & he countered with a price that was not that much higher. So, we shook hands & I came back with a big handful of cash for him. When it's all said & done, I will have more money into this one car than I got for my old Hemi Charger & GTX combined, but no where near the 100K mark. That really is a good deal.

Bottom line is that you can never say never. You just never know what will pop up and there's a lot to be said about luck and timing.  :2thumbs:

That's the thing, they won't! You MUST have the right Vectors, the saddle tan interior, the brush guard, whatever else makes it the General. You can put steelies, Rallyes or Cragars on a Hemi car and it's still a Hemi car, but to be a General you gotta do the whole deal!
Bullshit, you don't HAVE to do nothing. The people that build/own one usually just WANT it to be mostly correct.

:o   thats a mean looking GL  :yesnod:  love the slots  :drool5: , think they suit the car better  :shruggy: maybe  :Twocents: :scratchchin:

I have a set of these old Slot mags, and I swear they's starting to grow on me again. Couldn't STAND them because EVERY car had 'em on 'em back in the late 70's, early 80's. Somehow, I guess it's like Candy Apple paint...40 years ago, it was on everything. Wait 35 years, and it's cool again.

Feel the same way, only in my hometown it was slots and Keystones.  Hated them for years but like both now.  Never liked the Vecotrs (that is NOT a GL comment I am only talking about the wheel) and only liked Centerlines for a short time and it seems I'm still cold on both of those.  You hit it with the cyclical thing too because in the late 70's I didn't like Torq Thrusts and then 5 or 6 years ago when they made a comeback I liked them again until everybody got them and now not so much love again.

Mytur Binsdirti

Slotted mags are cool. What a difference they make on that GL. All GL's should have them.

By that line of thinking, Same could be said for Ansen Sprint wheels, Cragars S/S mags, Keystone mags, and basically any other wheel that is being reproduced in popualr sizes today. Weird huh?
