How do you know if it is working.
On the 73 I took a look at it the other day to clean it up a bit and seems like the "plunger" that is attached to the cable lever doesn't move (much).
Does it have to have fluid in it to work? :shruggy:

I took mine off the car, and was looking at it when I moved the lever. Mine barely moved, but the replacements are a different design, had a hard time making the replacement work.

Apparently the 73 valve is a 1 year wonder, so when you order a new one, keep that in mind. The only difference is where you mount it, took me a while to figure out to mount it to the inner fender.

Well in case I need one, I spoke to Ron @ Classic Auto Air today and he said they are reproducing the exact replica of ours.  What he said, now ... I think I'll ask for a pic of it.  But it is pricey!!! $199.00  WOW!  :o

Bob, I have my 69 only valve on my workbench and it's the same story, the plunger barely moves.  It's letting water through in any position so in effect I can't shut the heater off.  I'm not sure what the deal is or where to start.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I think mine was around $40 and after I figured out what to do, did not take long to put on, I did replace the hoses from the firewall to the valve, as I needed another inch or so.

price changes between lates and earliers due the replacement pieces available... earliers are bakelite and laters are metalic valves... beside that, laters got diff brackets than the replacement availables.
