http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=FL0113-143589&entryRow=107&lottype=&startRow=97    Looking to possible jump in on this auction in January. They get 8% on top of the winning bid and that also includes a unbias evaluation of the car you are bidding on. they also call you on the phone to see if you have any other questions. Im not sure that the blue carpet is right, but it is said to be a total restoration. any help would be appreciated. Just by these pics any idea on a fair price. It is not numbers matching engine or trans. as always thanks foir the help.

That is a nice car indeed. The trunk carpet is not correct but I like it, the piping around the edge makes for a custom finished edge.

The orange engine i can understand. some people dont know better and some just want orange instead of turquise. THe black interior with blue carpet however has me baffled.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Blue carpet has got to go.  I would say $25k -$35k tops.  $35k is pushing it.

For what this car would probably cost to win the bid, I would have to replace the blue interior carpet with black carpet. the blue just does not appeal to me.  How much would it cost to purchase new carpet for a 68 and how hard is it to replace. That being said is it still worth trying to get or do you think I should wait for something else. I do like the exterior color and the black interior. Just the blue carpet :icon_smile_angry:.

JB400

Replacing carpet is not hard at all, just a matter of removing the seats and sills.  Carpet price is determined by quality of the carpet.  I'm not that far along yet.

If you like everything except the carpet, bid on it! Carpet is cheap an easy to replace.  :Twocents:

My buddy has a beautiful gold '68 GTX.  He's had the motor out now for almost 5 years.  He keeps saying that he's painting the motor HP orange basically to jack with one of our buddy's that's really  anal about stuff like that.

It's such a nice car, I hope he doesn't.

Looks like a column shift auto to me.

Girlymatic, yes column.  Odd for a GTX.
He was in the printing press business until it took a dive.  A couple years ago he started his career all over & started working @ a machine/engine building shop.  The company has been around for 60 years & the name Schnell is the gold standard in the PDX area with go fast rides much like Daytonakid (Bill) is with his collision/restoration shop.

Brian, some stuff I remember well, some not.  What was it about a 4 gear tranny & having to have black carpet?  Was it non console had to have black carpet cause my blue Charger had black & I hated it so I put in blue.  That was a lot of blue.

Charger-Bodie

He should be applouded for going after something else that late in the gave. Very cool.

P.S. I dont mind column shift. Clears up alot of room.

Hope they fit the windsrean wipers and why did they put the join on the trunk rubber at the top. I always worry about a freshly done car. It needs to be driven to iron out the bugs and faults.

Is carpet an option for '68?  :scratchchin:

I could look it up, but I feel lazy right now.....
