Check out the attached link for all of the updated pictures of my '70.  I tried not to deviate too much from OE during my updates.

Hey guys,
As many of you know I've been taking the next step w/ my 70 and over the last few months I've updated the following in preparation of next weekends MCNCN show in Chicago.

Repainted booster/master cylendar semi gloss
Installed new Stainless brake and fuel lines using the correct OEM clamps
Restored pedal assembly under dash and replaced pads
Restored emergency brake assembly under dash
Restored Steering Column and replaced all Firewall gaskets
Restored bother heater boxes using Detroit gasket set
Restored Center Console and pistol grip shifter (new upper and lower chrome pieces and 4 speed decal)
Restored gas pedal bracket and replaced pedal
Installed factory exhaust manifolds, wire holders, heat shield, etc...
Installed new Power Steering hoses on Saginaw pump
Replaced mini starter with OEM starter that's been on the shelves
Replaced original firewall insulation with new
Replaced original glove box liner
Replaced Year One window felts with "Cat whiskers".  MUCH BETTER
Zinc plated several components including the z-bar, column lock linkage, Dana U-bolts, misc hardware,
Replaced fuel pump with factory CARTER and painted orange
Installed front brake caliper anti-rattle clips
Replaced + battery cable with NOS piece
bla, bla, bla     (As I type this I'm a bit concerned what the credit card balance is after this)
I even took the motor and trans out of the car to detail it.   Nuts, I know.

Keep in mine when I restored the car in 2009 I had no intentions to detailing to his original oem level but a few judges pissed me off and there I went.  lol   My car was a very nice 100% original sheet metal survivor so these pieces were still functional but showed their age being 43 y/o now.

Regardless, I've been busy and am very happy with the results.   I got her loaded in the trailer last night and am taking it to the exhaust shop tonight to adapt the manifolds to the 3" TTI H-pipe.  Sounds strange with straight manifolds, the headers were better sounding during the cam break in.

I "promise" I will update this posting with pictures over the weekend but in the meantime had a few moments to update all my Charger friends with my progress.   Thanks for your help throughout this process, everyone is always so knowledgable and helpful.   I really appreciate it.

I hope to have some visitors in CHICAGO next weekend, stop by and see me.  I'll be sporting my '70 Registry shirt and there will be 2 kids climing all over the '70.

Wow! Did not notice those hooks. Very clever, indeed.
Are you leaving them on, or are they installed temporarily & removed once at the show? :scratchchin:

Thanks guys
Bill.  The brackets and clevises are zink plated
I plan on leaving the brackets on.  I wish I could take credit for the idea but I just took it one step further w the clevises and plating.   I know, anal.

I'm running the Barn Finds section of the show, and will be running around all weekend.  Stop by and say hi.

Also I plan to take pictures of every car there, and perhaps some video.  So it will feel like you were there.

I feel rude I interjected into your post with my rhetoric.

You have an incredible car, I can not wait to see it there.  I will be at move in on Thursday and Friday and of course all weekend, I hope to catch you and say hi.

Best of luck, you have a beautiful car.

Very Nice  :yesnod:  Your car should do well there.  I will be leaving here Thursday morning and heading westbound with my 70 Chevelle SS454 Convertible to the show as well.  The trailer is already hooked up and ready to go.  Should be a great weekend  :2thumbs:

Dad and I got home from the MCACN show. It was the biggest and best mixed make car show we've ever attended.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

The amount of historically significant cars was outstanding.  Many cars were past magazine features I've read about but never saw in real life until now - very cool!

I talked to Bill (bad88t-top). His 1970 Charger was impressive and beautifully displayed with mirrors and lights underneath. It looked perfect under bright lights, and presented like a professional restoration. Bill does excellent work. :yesnod:

I also talked to Steve (WINGR) who lives nearby. His beautiful 1970 Superbird was part of the winged warrior/aero car display. The image of his car was emblazoned on every plastic credential pass worn by exhibitors and vendors, and featured on the 2012 official event poster. What a great honor for Steve. :icon_smile_wink:

This was a great show guys and gals, so put it on your list for 2013.  TUFCAT

I think Bill's car is part of the (1968/1969/1970 Charger and Daytona class?) which includes some of the highest scoring 1969 Charger Daytonas in the country. He's facing extremely tough competition. I know he'd own the 1968-1970 Charger class if Daytona's weren't lumped together. :yesnod:

Amazing Chargers, Daytonas, and others at the MCACN this year!

One thing I never found, was the barn finds... When I was leaving to catch my flight, someone pointed towards the area of those cars. Too late, I had to go... Then, my flight was delayed for 3 hrs :brickwall:

That's a long story.... But I will have pictures later today.

Glad everyone enjoyed the show!
