(extract taken from my New Zealand car forum post, changed where necessary as both sites have been very helpful to me since my search has began!)

Howdy all,

I've been on the forum for a few months snooping around and I've had so much help on here that I'm thankful for. So, we've finally (after over a year of searching and dodging conmen/heaps of junk) got our 1969 Dodge Charger 'General Lee' replica, 440 six-pack genuine R/T. I'm an avid Dukes of Hazzard fan, have a lot of memorabilia and signed pieces I've been collecting, and Dad loves the General too - so it was settled what our next muscle car was going to be  :2thumbs: The thousands we've spent alone in inspections on numerous supposed "Mint General Lees" across the States over the past year-and-a-half, finally something we're content with! Too our knowledge it's a Smith Brothers Restoration vehicle (the most reputable General Lee builders in the world, base all their work off the specification sheet from Warner Brothers themselves - in which they purchased outright after the series finished), all Legendary Auto Interior (which are the suppliers for the most accurate General Lee/Era correct interior parts available) and the dash-face is also signed by 'Rosco P. Coltrane' and 'Cooter' from the original TV series themselves. It cost a bit more than we wanted to spend, but as it's said no-truer than in the States, "You get what you pay for"!   :icon_smile_cool:

Anyway, here's a couple of photos from the States (as it's currently in closed-transporter transit to L.A. to be shipped to Auckland):

Cheers!

Congrats on your new Charger..  :2thumbs:
Now you face weeks of impatience while the Charger takes a nap in a container..

STIG

Haha, cheers! It's much better than hyperventilating every two minutes thinking I'll never find a General though  :icon_smile_big:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

STIG

Thanks, Fred. It sure does! It'll be on these shores in no time at all

Congratulations and you will be much hapier for having spent more than if you had saved a little and got a pile of dog turd.

Congrats!  :2thumbs:

FWIW...  I'd be putting real tailpipes on that.      That sawed off turn down exhaust deal will not make you any friends if you go to some car cruise on a dirt road or dirt parking area.

Enjoy the ride! :)

And the exhaust fumes roll out through the wheel wells and up the side of the car into the window.

Nice General!   :2thumbs:

On the note of exhaust, you might want to put one in that has an x pipe or h pipe :Twocents:

And tailpipes just look better on a car anyway.  Gives them that finished look at the rear.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments!

Yeah, I'll get that exhaust done as soon as it lands... Probably not even legal here whilst it's running that I'd assume  :icon_smile_big:

Hey Bob, yeah, will definitely be at the Kumeu show as we don't live far away anyway. Also looking forward to the Beach Hop, as we do every year  :2thumbs:

Very Nice looking car! Well done  :2thumbs:

Does NZ have to have import approvals before it is transported (like here in Aus)?
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

Very nice congrats one question for you do u plan on fixing the pushbar brining it up to where it should be it hangs way to low looks like a snow plow hanging that low.

STIG

It's very easy to import a classic into New Zealand, just some basic requirements to meet and you're fine. We'll have anything that needs doing, done. Thanks for pointing it out the push bar anyway  :2thumbs: I wonder where to buy the foam for the rollbar tubing here though.

The only thing I don`t like is the rear valance corners look smoothed over.. That usually means bondo...

STIG

Had two inspection companies go over it and said there was only very light skimming of filler used on the rear valance, but there is no rust/corrosion or damage and all panels are original. So we're aware of that, no biggy   ;)

Doesnt look like one done by the Smith Brothers but its possible I guess.  Email them and ask if you want verification.  Very nice car nonetheless.  Enjoy it.
