I am going to strip down the car to just the suspension, was wondering about how it cost me to have a body shop media blast the car?

I think prices are determined by who does it in your area, and how many people in your area do it.

The estimates I got range from $1,500.00 to $700.00 not including primer coat.

What the Hell-Dumass !

I was quoted $1000 to $1200 including applying epoxy primer after sand blasting.

Blast from the Past in Lebanon, TN charged me $1200 to blast and epoxy prime with me supplying the primer.  If he supplied it, it was a couple hundred extra.  If I had it do do over, I'd let him supply it.  He told me that it takes an entire day to do one.  They spend three hours just blowing the media out of the car.  They don't have a Auto Twirler jig.  But I saw some cars that had arrived on floats that came mounted Twirlers.  Of course, thats the best way if you want to spend the $$ on one of these.  This was to blast the entire car----outside/inside/trunk/engine compartment/fenders/valance/doors.  I had the doors and fenders off before he got it.  And I had some initial body work done ahead of time (like cutting out the rusted area below the battery and fitting in new metal as well as installing frame rails, torque boxes, and a new 11 gauge lower radiator support).  This was about a month ago.

Alabama Powder Blasting, it was in Birmingham AL.

Mississuaga Ontario. Soda Pro. Quoted $900 – $1,100 for 71 Charger "because it's a big car". We used a media and not soda. Although it looked like fine white sand after. Was told the price variance is determined on how much undercoated was on the car. So, I spend the next two weekends scrapping off all the undercoating with heat and scraper – Huge job but I got it spotless! I then drop the car off. Come to pick it up and he wants $1250. The sign I'm standing beside sais "unlike our competitors, we always stand behind our quotes".  :rotz: No fenders, no hood, no deck lid. – a bare shell on a dolly. Come to think of it, he always squeezed more $ than his estimates. Never again!

That's bad business. What sucks here, if you didn't pay, they could own the car. Does that hold true in Canada?

I'm not 100% sure ,but no they wouldn't own it. But no money no car. I didn't blast mine, but I wish I did.I've been removing the rust by hand, pain the ass that it is.
