What is the quietest way to let a 500 hp engine breathe?  I am not interested in a loud car for a number of reasons, but I don't want a lot of noise.  I see a post from some with resonators.  Is that the way to go?

Advice?  I'll take some noise, but want to minimize.

The rule is 3" pipes for this power level?  right?  crossover quiets too, right?

I am an old guy and want to be able to drive the car back to my dad's house (it was his to start).

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

From what I've read on here the Hemi mufflers are suppose to be pretty quiet. You could also add resonators right before the tips like many have done here as well.

Thanks.  I am planning to go the way of bullet mufflers as resonators.  I'll post when I get the results.  It is going to be 4-6 weeks till the car is set, yet.

Accurate's Hemi High Flow mufflers AND resonators will be TOO quiet IMHO :Twocents:

Also I believe a 3" diameter exhaust will be overkill as well.......especially if you are looking for a quiet muffler which will be restrictive in its own right  H-pipe or X-pipe is a must.

If you haven't seen my thread yet on UltraFlo's....

Thanks.  Your posts were very helpful, and this was where I first ran across the use of bullet mufflers as resonators.  I also see others on the list now that I know what to search for.  I also figured out that 2.5 inch should work for my needs and that ultraflows were louder than I wanted.
