Not too much progress lately other than installing the front & reat windshield. The chrome shop had my stuff for 5 months & I finally yanked it out of there....before they went out of business. So, it's all at another shop about 100 miles from me. The owner felt bad for me & is trying to put a rush on it so that I can possibly still take it to Carlisle in July, but I'm not holding my breath. Other than the chrome, the only thing left is an alignment.

Anyway, I located a correct rechromed shifter handle & installed that & the console tonight. Yes, I know, the white ball is incorrect, but I personally think the woodgrain balls don't look right with the chrome console tops.

Shouldt a 68 have a black shift knob anyway?

I know the Inland shifters did, but I thought all the Hursts were woodgrain?   :shruggy:

It looks awesome with the white ball IMO

I think the wood ball looks silly on a 68 (it would be the *only* wood anywhere in the interior). Mine will have white as well (both cars). The Inland knobs were black. I don't think I've ever seen a black ball on a Hurst - but I'm no expert.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Dino

The fake woodgrain is nostalgic at best so keep the white ball, it looks right at home.

That's my recollection as well. I have seen my share of late-year production '68 4speeds and all had the wood....... this is one of those rare occasions when something looks better than OEM... I like the white shifter ball on the '68....

The 64-65 mopars had the black ball and I would have sworn the 68s had the black hurst ball to go with the earlier inland shifters.

As long as I don't have blue balls, that's all that really matters.  :2thumbs:
