I aprove it totally. You know I'm an idiot SOB stockish look lover, LOL, but that doesn't mean still being upgraded hidden a stock look... the deal is ARE THOSE GOOD ? that's what I don't know.

I have read some of those regulators are not good quality.

I think RTE is a good reputable company though, they make them, and maybe you can a demand for a good working unit if the one you get doesn't work

nop... lates 69s C bodies got the first electronic regulators setups,

The '69 factory parts book shows them available on all models except the A-bodies but their use was limited; that's why '70 is generally considered the first year because the changeover was company-wide.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

So you don't generally approve of using a single field alternator with one of the retrofit electronic regulators?
Of course you can use one, I have one myself on my single connection field winding alternator.
All I said was that from an electronic design point of view it's easier and better to control the ground connection as in the newer type 2 connection  field winding alternator.

the dual field alt is more efficient there is far less load switching the ground instead of the power so it is easier the regulator

I think the "reason" for the changeover was Chrysler knew that they were changing to solid state ignition also. A natural advancement in technology that promised better control with higher reliability at a reduced cost.
