So...    who's going to be the guru and tell me where to snag an electric trunk release from to retrofit to my 68?

I think Chris has one on his 69?

Probably a Ford Crown Vic would be easiest and cheapest to find.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Early 70s C, Y body. Flip it upside down and bolt it in. Be sure to snag the actuator and bezel from the glove box for that "factory correct" look.

WANT TO BUY:
Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.

Fairly easy to find. Latches are common across most chrysler products. Complete set ups show up on ebay for about 40 bucks.

68 would have had a vacuum actuated unit if you are striving for a level of "correctness".

I have a vacuum one on my 66, plus I have a couple electrics and one spare vacuum one here...I think I have one of the electric ones sold, but the other has a broken latch spring....can those be replaced with one from a standard latch??

Nice electric ones can be found in mid to late eighties Diplomats, Fifth avenues, etc...

Might be a place to start?

I see them all the time on eBay for around $35 bucks complete with harness.  :yesnod:
I have one still waiting to go in my '69 as well.

I've thought about bashing in a cadillac pull down motor and release.

Imagine a quiet click and then watching you newly painted Charger decklid slowly pull down and come to a gentle stop.......rather than the usual WHAM!

Well I found one on Ebay for $40 shipped...      so looks like it is a solved problem.   This will actually be for my convertible Satellite...   don't think I need one for my Charger
