Well, the 67 has been put to bed for her winter's nap.  I'm in the Mopar row. I'm next to (I believe) a Magnum and next to that is a 70 GTX.
On the other side of me (will be) a 70 Challenger, next to that is a Viper and a 68 Coronet R/T and I forget what else in the row.   :'(

Geez Bob, your garage sure is a lot bigger than I remember it

Yuh, I wish huh?  :brickwall:

The spindle recall has currently stopped my suspension work, so I moved on to carb.  I'm sure the carb on the car would be fine after a rebuild, but I bought (over a year ago) a Holley to put in it's place.  My Challenger has a Holley on it and I know how to tune it (not to mention I have jets, cams, springs, etc).  I was going to do the swap last year but then I discovered I needed an adapter to fit the intake, not to mention a different air cleaner base.  Eventually all those parts showed up and I managed to do the swap:

I had to chase down a few fuel leaks, wire in the electric choke, and search around for an air cleaner stud that fit, but I got it installed.  It runs strong  Pulling twice the vacuum of the old carb and sounds much smoother.   It needs the typical minor tuning to get it dialed in and I need to relocate the coil but it is nice to have it running so well.

Added a woodgrain wheel.

JamieZ

Fabricated a bracket to relocate the coil.  Nothing fancy but it was fun to use my fabrication tools for a change.
Here it is painted up:

And then installed:

Color match is a bit off, but the engine bay is pretty dirty (as is everything else) as I haven't cleaned the car after doing the frame work.

Ghoste, radio and wheel looks great.  So what drink do you travel with in your cup holder?

stripedelete

Nice Ghoste.   Are you sporting a buddy seat?  Love mine.  Console left me hanging.

Ghoste

Cup holder generally just has sunglasses and garage door opener in it.  Water or soda on long drives.  Adult beverages are strictly only when its parked in the garage and I'm doing something inside the car. (like installing a new steering wheel or radio)  :2thumbs:

1973rallye

Gave up on the thermoquad and installed a demon 625. Not exactly the bolt in as they lead you to believe, but after some modification to the throttle brackets its on an it runs nicely.

Yanked off my Right Stuff spindles for recall:

Missed getting them to the UPS store by 5 minutes because work called me.

My new P-S-T Uppers show up, but I didn't get a chance to put them on (not like I have spindles to connect them to anyhow)

Bought a new B&M 727 from Summit this weekend. Got it halfway installed today, hoping to have it finished up tomorrow. Sure is pretty seeing a new trans guaranteed not to leak, or overheat and leave me stranded again.

Class from Dr Diff got me replacement spindles in just 2 days.  I put the driver's side on and I can see for the PST upper I need to slightly relocate the bump stop.  On the passenger side I need to move the brake transition bracket.  I guess when I repaired the frame rail I didn't get it back in the exact spot.  It cleared the factory upper but not the PST upper.  Should be simple to make (if it wasn't so cold outside).

looks nice JamieZ, get the dust covers for those helm joints to upper new control arms ,
keeps the dirt and crap out and stops them becoming junk in no time,
whats the recall ? on spindles,

JamieZ

Apparently one of the spindles broke between the bearings.  Not bent, broke.  You can read about it here http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=8311465  I'm sure a search of other mopar sites will turn up similar threads.  I had mine installed by the car never even left the garage.

Do you know of a source for heim joint dust covers?

fy469rtse

no but there was a thread on hear that mentioned them ,
its one of the reasons i dont like them, race unit only, short life span unless you can protect them from the eliments,
do a search in suspension threads

Charger-Bodie

Installed in reupholstered dash pad in my 68. Got rid of the pg one that the material was lifting in the recessed part.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Had the body man stop by to take a look at the (soon to be formally) gold Charger. he's going to take in in about 3 weeks, so I've got to get moving.

Added a woodgrain wheel.

Looks great! IMHO, that's the best looking wheel that Mopar offered in 68-70 models.

I finished rebuilding my front suspension, installed new booster/master cylinder, reassembled and installed tail lights, trunk lock, rear bumper, new trunk mat. I bought some other parts and stuff, drooled over all of your guys rides wishing I was able to drive mine, wondered if I'll ever finish before I'm too old to enjoy, dreamed of driving it to Carlisle or power tour or even local cruise.

You're never too old to enjoy it and you're far removed from being old.   :icon_smile_big:

It may help to meet a few local members, maybe ride shotgun in another Charger to get a motivational boost.  You're more than welcome to ride shotgun in mine after its winter sleep, I'm about 4 hours east of you.   :2thumbs:

Thanks, the story of how I got it makes it even better.

I finally pulled mine out of the Twinkie the other day and sent it to the shop.

Fabbed up a relocation bracket for the bump stop.  It moves the factory stop outboard by a couple inches.  This is the test fit before I finished it up and painted it. I still need to get some grade 8 hardware to mount it permanently.  If I switch back to the factory uppers, I would just need to unbolt it and put the factory stop back in the stock location.
