Glad you found one buddy!  Much better than the red 69.   :yesnod:

Man, how great it was to find this car!

Just last night I was looking AGAIN for a car that was in you price range.  I AM STOKED YOU FOUND THIS ONE.

Your first video put a chill down my spine.  Every once in a while you get a big smack on the side of your head so a person comes to his/her senses to remember about what is important in life - FAMILY.  Your a good man Michael.   Your dad is probably fighting the worst fight of his life and this could be a huge turning point to spark the inner self to keep the fight.

This is a special story because a good friend did the same thing for his brother who was told he had stage 4 cancer and wasn't going to live over a year.  His brother made the decision to just have the doc cut out the cancer and see what happens.  I  and am happy to say 7 years later he is as strong as possible with no signs of remission.  He restored the 69 Camaro and is driving it this summer.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

Well done, looks great! I am biased though as it looks identical to mine! Got me seriously considering widened Magnums, they look awesome.

Congrads on the car, very cool of you to do this for your dad. As big of a smile that I imagine he has on his face when he is around the car, I imagine you are even far happier, congrads, nice charger!

OH YEAH! Right away! I'm actually about 7.5 hours from where my dad and the car are located, and I knew that if he had any questions this was the place to go! I appreciate all the support and kind words from everyone! I know that my dad as well as myself will be using you all for questions and help as we dive in and work a little on the car!

I have to say this has been one hell of an experience thus far. It's pretty cool to know that WE own a Charger. I know he's wanted one since he sold his, and I've wanted one since I heard him talk about his! It's def. an addiction! I'm already thinking that Grace would like some company in the garage! LOL

Awesome story & an awesome car. Love the 68's. I have a similar story about my Dad & his 66 Charger he once had. All of his old car stories are of an old canary yellow 66 383 4 speed Charger with a custom black lace paint over the factory yellow he once owned & used to out run the cops going back & forth from Kansas to different posts across the country when he was in the service. My brother & I found him another 66 HEMI Charger (minus HEMI) with a replacement 383. It was a decent driver but age & his preferances changed with age. Apparently, he was not any longer hung up on the Charger like we all remembered it & he eventually sold it due to lack of interested anymore & could use the money for better things.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out well with you and your dads charger. I don't think this one will be up for sale, well, ever again to be honest! We didn't have the car for 10 minutes, and were driving a little ways on a dirt road to get to an estate sale, and my dad said with discust "I don't know why we're on this dirt road. This car should never see dirt roads!" lol.  Very soon there after we needed to fill with gas (gauge doesn't work, so we figured better safe then sorry) and he I asked him how much to put it in. His reply? "not much. It's not going very far!" lol. I think he likes it :)

I remember stories about my dad outrunning cops. One in particular sticks out when him and his buddies (one in a hemi cuda, and the other in a roadrunner) did donuts in the middle of the towns intersections. Then split. The cop chose to follow my dad....shooting at him as they sped away! That cop was a crazy one! Dad found that out the hard way!   :smilielol:

I wouldn't say it didn't work out. I'd say it was great. He enjoyed several years with it. I got to enjoy several years of going to car shows & cruise nights with him with his 66 & me in my 70'. I think his stories are probably what got me into Chargers at such an early age (Before the Dukes era). I just think now that he was much older the whole car thing just didn't really appeal to him as much anymore as he was more focusing on retiring. I can't blame him. Now I have two Charger's & one Challenger & two boys & a Daughter of my own & will enjoy my cars with my Children as much as possible & hope they have the love for cars that I do someday when I pass them down to them.

I misunderstood. I thought you meant he sold it fairly quickly! my apoligies.  Yeah, I'm thinking your def one up on me with two of these beasts and a challenger....lol! But I'm already eyeing another one. I think I'm hooked. And althought the chase is a pain in the arse....I can see it's really the part of the addiction thats the most rewarding. In fact last night while driving back to colorado, I noticed a super bee (68 or 69) for sale in a neighboring town. I didn't have a chance to stop...but I will be stoping there soon! Perhaps Dads Grace will have a partner in crime soon! lol

It's an addiction for sure. I can not get enough of 68-70 Charger's. Some day I want one of all 3 years of the second Gen's (no offense to the 1st gen or third gen guys).

I'm not so sure how happy the boss lady will be with me when this addiction surfaces again! She may just give me one of these  :slap: and see if it helps! But I'm searching already...but we will see! haha

Well, today is a mixed emotions day. 27 years ago today, my little brother was born, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HIM  ....but 1 year ago today, my dad passed. It's been an interesting year without him. A person doesn't realize how some of the small things matter until someone is taken away from you.  I mean, just to hear the sound of my dads voice right now, to hear him say he loves me, that would be amazing. I'm sad I didn't save some voice messages on my phone, or text messages, or have videos and pictures with him. Don't have a lot to look at, or listen to. Cant imagine how my brother feels today. Happy it's his birthday, sad it's the day his dad passed.

Been an interesting year with the car. She was a running son of a b*tch.....and now problems. lol. We all know about those! Sure dads laughing about em. Sure he pry could've helped me resolve em too! Tough not being able to call him, and bounce ideas off him.

I guess I'm just sending this message out into the universe to say love hard, and deep. Be as passionate about life, as we are about these cars. Remember to hug your loved ones whenever you get the chance. TELL them that you love them. Take pictures, and videos, and SAVE THEM. Even if they are short, and simple, and at the time seem to be irrelevant.  It's THOSE momments in life that you're going to wish you had back when they are gone. Cherish every momment. Life is short, make yours count!

Absolutely awesome. I will admit that I lumped up watching all three vids. Emotions ran high because I was following your threads on your search. You did an awesome job! The fact that you gave him a Charger that was very presentable and the fact that he got to start it & drive it. He never seen it coming. Makes me want to go out and do that for my dad who is now 80. Although it wouldn't be a '68 Charger it would be a '74 Chevy Malibu.

Keep us posted, Bryan

I quoted on my own reply on this thread to show you it seems just like yesterday that I posted on this topic. I did not realize your father had passed last year at this time. I am so sorry for your loss even though it's a year later. You had such a great tribute towards your father with the actions you took by making sure he got the joy of driving and owning his favorite car. I am fortune enough to still have my dad although he is 2200 miles away from me. I do get over at least twice a year to see him along with my family and friends.  Yep cherish the moments while you can.

I guess keep the Charger in the family for generations to come.

Sorry about the loss of your Dad.  It was a good thing you did buying it for him.  I remember this car as I am not far from Winchester, Va. and saw the car at a few cruise-ins and driving around some.  I always loved thedark green and wide meats out back as it made the car look very sinister.  What part of the country is the cars home now?
