My 500 has a rear speaker that looks stock. No idea if it was added or not, but does anyone know what the package tray is supposed to look like if if there is a speaker?

The one in the car had been recovered. This is what it looked like from the bottom. The 11 holes were over the speaker:

That is what the one in my Daytona looks like - suprisingly crude really.

Thanks, Dave !

I would have liked to have saved my original, but it was literally just falling into pieces, not too mention the wasted vinyl that had been glued on. It's going to feel a little strange drilling holes in the new tray, but at least I know if I do a sloppy job it will be just like factory new.

Mike,
That rear speaker was in the car when I bought it in 1982.  I guess you never really know for sure with out the B/S, but I doubt it was added.
I sure hope to see that car again in its former glory.  It was a great car when I owned it.  It was beautiful and it was probably the best running 440-4bbl car  I have ever owned.

probably it was drilled by Creative as they wouldn't have a die to stamp it with. :shruggy:

Thanks Chris. That's helpful. I was thinking it was original due to the fact that the package tray was not a reproduction (unfortunately, now it is). Now that I know the holes were drilled by Creative Ind and not Joe Blow, I'm sure the rear speaker was there from the factory. I've used the old one as a template and re-created the holes - misalignment and all.

As far as being able to see the car in it's former glory, I hope you plan a long life    The car is going to be sanded and shot quickly in black this fall, and I'll continue to just drive it. A restoration is down the road, but there is too much on my plate these days.
