I recently obtained a bumper jack for my charger it needs a little restoration I was just wondering what coler shoulod it be. Thanks in advance Dom.

Did it cost you less than $300? If so consider yourself lucky. As far as I know they were gray. Here's one on Ebay they say is unrestored:

I used grey primer with clear over it for the mechanism and base.  I used a natural steel color for the post.

The decal is reproduced

Chris, I thought the lug nut wrench/ jack handle was gray like the hook on the jack?  At least that is what the color of mine was.

Chris, I figured out the Jack date code thing. One of the jacks I have has an 0 C on it near the up down lever.
I found out that means it came out of a 70 charger, see this link as well.

The date code things never end with MaMopar, do they?

My Daytona's jack is date-stamped 9 E, which breaks down as...  9 = 1969, E = May (5th month)

I took pictures of the restored jack I have out of the car, it has no numbers or letters. I have another shot of a jack that has
numbers or letters, what does this mean with no numbers on the one jack to date code it?

IIRC think they skipped the letter "I" - too much like "1".  That would put M as the 12th month.  So 8 M is perfect for a late December or January/February built '69.

I just checked and the jack that is in my R/T does not have a date stamping on it either, like Dan's.  Guess that works with any car's build date!

I have no idea, I have never evan seen anybody else paint there 68-69 charger jack black, at this point
I don't think we will ever know. We have hashed this jack thing out pretty good, and nobody had a
stock black one.

In 68-70 chargers, I have only seen the grey jacks. My 68 and 69 are hamtramck cars, and the jacks are grey.

I have had original jacks from other b body's, (68 gtx from lynch road, and a 69 bee)  that were black from the factory.  I wonder if it could have to do with which plant the car came from?

Most 70 chargers were from st. louis.  Maybe the lynch road cars had black jacks?

mine is an original 318 car, june build date from hamtramk.  I suppose some yahoo could have painted it, but I spoke to all of the owners before me except the first one. (she was an older woman when she first bought it)  and I did not get the impression any of them did any sort of work on the car.

the first lady put 100k on it, and let it sit at her house, guy 2 gets it running and it sits again, guy 3 does a quicky respray, sells it at E town to the guy I got it from who let it sit for another 9 years, then I got it.

who cares anyway, I will just put it to grey/silver when the time comes...
