You might consideration a SS chassis plug. They are available in many diameters.

Isn't that more or less what the factory antenna delete plug was anyway?

twodko

Hey Ghoste, might be, I've never seen an ant. delete plug.  :shruggy:

antenna delete means it never got a hole in the fender in the first place...which actually was "radio" delete

try hardware store for SS plug for the hole

ya any plumbing department should have some ss plugs.

Newport Brass makes one, SS sink hole plug about 12.00 $  its about 1 1/2 diam  with a stem and butterfly wingnut.

I sold an antenna delete plug that I got in a box of trim parts.  The number on the part indicated that it came from a Mirada or something in that vintage.  It was a Mopar part with a pentastar on it.  It's been a few years.

Anybody have any luck using a hidden antenna?

I got the old thing sticking up from Black Betty but my new AMD fender for Sinnamon doesn't have a hole cut...  right now I'd rather not cut it if I can avoid it.

I actually did that on an old Jimmy that I had several years ago, I put the antenna inside the inner fender and got descent reception, but then again I was living on Oahu so I really couldn't get too far away from the radio signal  :icon_smile_big:

go to lowes. i got a metal plug in the hardware section that was the perfect size. it popped right in and once i painted it to mach the body it looks good.

also tp answer the question about the hidden antenna. i bought one off ebay. stuck it under the dash and it works great.

Brightyellow69rtse

thanks guys looks like i have a few options.

twodko

Hidden antennas are a pretty cool stealth option for radio reception. The key to any antenna is a ground plane., think of it as a ground. This is why they are mounted on hoods, fenders and embedded in windshields....these use both physical metal surfaces as ground planes and electronically designed ground planes. My long winded point is when you install a hidden antenna try and place it someplace where it will be at 90* to a large metal surface.
I.e. - mounted vertically behind a kick panel, it will "see" the roof as it's ground plane. Mounted under the package tray it will "see" the fender as it's ground plane and like that. Mounted close and parallel to a long metal surface like between the headliner and roof, the antenna will behave more like an inductor and reception will be noticeably degraded.

I know.......prolly more info than necessary. :shruggy:

Not so. It saved me from making a big mistake. I have an antenna delete fender on my car. I was going to put a hidden antenna near the front of the car between the headliner and roof. This seemed logical to me. So now I need to rethink this before the interior goes in.
Thanks.
