oil pressure excursions

Going to scare up a mechanical gauge to check it, but my pressure moves all over the dial. Starts at 50, drops to 30 after warm up, then drops to 10 driving, then back to 30-40, then back to ten. Checking out the sending unit as well. Engine has less than 200 miles on a complete 383 rebuild. No obvious issues like leaks or strange sounds and the car eats highway like nothing I've ever driven in my life.

Do your other gauges move around also?  A bad instrument voltage regulator will cause those kind of problems...

Had that problem and fixed it, thought about stepping up oil viscosity as I picked up some Shell 20W50 aviation oil at a local sale.

So have you tried a mechanical gauge?  I wouldn't trust the original gauge for a second.
