Thinking about getting a 'Doba or Magnum for a good weather daily driver and was wondering what kind of experience people have had with the car and what kind of mileage a 318 would bring to the table?

Just looking for feedback, thanks!

I had a few Cordobas, with 318's, I got between 20-22 mpg.

You can expect much the same as any of the other B-bodies with a 318.  They were a more refined version of our venerable late 60's B-bodies in many ways and in ther ways not so much.  Remember at the end of the 70's Chrysler was on its death bed and the American autmakers quality in general of the day combined to make some things "frustrating".  Then there was the infamous Lean Burn system.  Overall, though they were a well thought out car that is easily repaired, comfortable to drive, still good looking (imo) and often overlooked today.  There was certainly a reason they were able to sell so many Cordoba's.

That sounds pretty good to me.  The value of Magnums seem to be pretty low still, so this is one of my reasons.   I'm also so hooked on the Hot Rod Power Tour, I need something for the tours that aren't too Midwest friendly like next year.

Thanks guys.   If one pops up by you, please let me know.  :2thumbs:

There has been a black T-Top Magnum for sale on For B-bodies Only for a while. A nice looking car the guy can not give away for some reason.

This is on our local Craigslist. A 79 Chrysler 300, looks like a beautiful car.

I would be calling on this if I did not buy my old 69 Charger back last week.

I just saw the one on Forbbodies and it looks like it needs some work.  I think he's asking too much.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open for me.  I'll be looking at one next week! :2thumbs:

I would like to get a T top magnum and put a late model ram pick up 360 magnum with efi and overdrive in it...

ODZKing

I had a 78 Magnum.  Great car as far as comfort.
318 was a dog and got terrible gas milage - as you might expect for a 78 - 318. And that lean burn was the worst idea Chrysler ever came up with.
It would cut out and stall WHILE I was on the highway.  If they had the conversion kit back in 79-80 I would still have the car today.
Overall a great car but I agree with what everyone else says ... GET RID of the Lean Burn!

471_Magnum

Spotted a 78 magnum in the car corral the weekend at a local show. 47k miles. 400 4v. Very clean. Plush velour. Column shift. $5500.
If it would've had T tops, I'd have made a low ball offer.
I think I've got a picture with the contact info (not the car).
