Any of you guys addicited to HQ audio?  Reveal your systems!  I have a Kenwood KD 500 with an Infinty black widow tonearm and a pickering cart.  Also a det of newly refoamed boston acoustics a70 series 1s.  TEAC 4070 reel to reel as well.  I need a good integrated amp to complete the system.  I had one in hand but the guy sold it to someone else the day before I was going to pick it up...  :brickwall: oh well... so this is both a audiophile display page as well as a "anyone got a kenwood KA 8300 they wouldn't mind parting with?

I would rather listen to my cat fart than to listen to a crappy stereo.    I guess I'm a stereo snob.

I'm still using some of the original components that I first bought in the 1970's, but some I have replaced. I'd still be using my original receiver except there are hardly any inputs in it. The old stuff still blows away a lot of the new things available for the price so I see no reason to get rid of something if it can still be used. The single best improvement that I did was to add a 400 watt subwoofer last year. I can't believe how much better everything sounds now.

Currently using....

Yamaha RX V3900 Receiver, 7-channel 980W surround sound - 140W x 7  (Bought this about 1-1/2 years ago)
Marantz 6270Q Direct Drive Turntable  (Bought around 1976 & repaired last year)
Fisher XP-95 3-way Speakers, (4 each) 15" woofers  (Bought around 1976, replaced the dry rotted woofers)
Infinity RS 525 2-way Tower Speakers, (2 each) 8" Woofers  (Bought in 1996 & replaced foam surrounds)
Polk 400 watt Amplified Subwoofer  (Forget model number, bought last year)
Teac Cassette deck, (Forget model number, bought around 1978 & replaced belt once)
Sony 5 disc CD Changer  (Forget model number, bought around 1994)

Retired equipment that still works, but needs service....

Hitachi Receiver - 100 watts / channel  (Bought in 1976)
ADC Soundshaper Equalizer  (Bought in 1977)
Teac Dual Recording Cassette Deck, (Bought around 1996)

It's definitely much better than the built in DAC on the iPod run through a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable but not sure how it compares to the higher end units that are only a DAC. For $100 bucks it gives me better sound quality that the standard docks do not and charges the iPod but moreover it gives me the option (read: remote) to change the song from across the shop... :nana:

It's funny, but at home all I'm running is a Blose unit...

In truck #1 and #2 I'm running (too much to list) a Clarion(head unit NX700) and Fosgate (p1000) amps along with all Fosgate component speakers/subs.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd like everything in detail, but I'm lazy.

Way to addicted to audio according to the missus.  I have 3 systems in the master bedroom (4 pr spkrs), 1 in the guest room, 3 in my boars nest (4 pr spkrs), 1 in the family room (3 pr spkrs), 1 in the wifes craft room (2 pr spkrs).  Plus about 30+ extra pairs of speakers around the house.  Probably 180+ various system components scattered in the house with a mix of tube and SS. Have two systems in the living room (main listening room), 1 tube and 1 SS.
Tube:
Amp - Dynaco ST-70
Pre -  Dynaco Pas-3
Tuner - Technics TU-70
TT - AR-XA
Spkrs - AR-3A

SS:
Amp - Yamaha B-2 (Front),Yamaha M-70 (Rear)
Pre - Yamaha CX-1000
Tuner - Yamaha T-70
TT - Yamaha PX-3
CDR - JVC XL-R5000BK
Tape - Akai GX-F91 (cassette), GX-747 (R2R), Technics RS-858US (8-Track)
Spkrs - dlk Model 4 (Front), ESS AMT-4 (Rear)

Add in about 10, 000 vinyls albums, 100+ 8-tracks, and to many of cassette and R2R.  So yes, I must be a slightly addicted audioholic.

I like good sounding music, but not enough to remember all the part numbers. Lol my garage setup is a mid 70s kenwood receiver and a newer kenwood 5 disc changer running through a pair of Bose 901s.  In the house I have late 70s I believe Harmon kardon receiver, another kenwood cd changer running through marantz tower speakers.

I tend to enjoy listening to my music though Martin arrays at concert-level... I guess that my job doesn't suck too bad.  :coolgleamA:

First thing I thought of when I read your post about "Martin" were these.....

http://www.martinlogan.com/products/summitx

Heard them about 3 years ago when I was looking for my receiver & was blown away by how good they sounded. They're not in my price range, but they will be if I hit the lottery.

We are speaking the language of the audio engineer, it is a vastly confusing language that is comprised namely of numbers, letters, and acronyms and has a pretty steep learning curve. The best known translation program, if in Chicago, is to walk to the nearest street corner and ask that Columbia student... as there is an overabundance of kids that have decided that they too can be an engineer....

No offense to any Columbia kids, just what I've noticed.

audiophile??? To many years listening to jet engines has made my hearing "selective" in the higher octaves(mainly womens voices ). I do like my horns though, Klipsch KP-320's, Pioneer 94-TXH, Pioneer BDP 94-hd,and a Pioneer DV-79 AVI for SACD's.

Stood in front of too many loud amplifiers (mainly my bass amp) for too many years.   :musik010:   No need for hi end audio gear for me, I can't tell the difference anymore.

My hearing isn't what it used to be, but I still like it nice & clear.
