Will someone please slap me when I decide to take my car apart?

Bear with me here...

Here's the things I would like to/need to do to the Charger:

-Install the new Edelbrock shocks sitting in my garage.
-Fix the instrument cluster circuit board so all lights work and fuel gauge works again.
-Calibrate temp and oil pressure gauges so reading is more correct.
-Rebuild and install TQ carb.
-Install front brake disc kit, new m/c and combo valve.
-Fix header leak.
-Convert a/c to r134a
-Find 15" wheels and get some wider tires.
-Fix sloppy steering(new steering pump installed, I'm talking factory sloppy steering)
-Fix ds brake lights.

At this point I need to stop and think what else I could do.  There's little things like fixing the light above the ignition switch and in the ashtray but those are not really intense jobs...

Now, here's the deal...I used to restore cars for a living so sometimes I get an itch and want to take the car apart to make it perfect.  If I do that I will be the next guy with a project on his hands that may never get finished and I don't want that.  Sure the car could use some work but it's complete, it's solid and it hauls ass so I need to keep my hands off of it!
I'm 38, I work full time in the health care field and am going back to college, I barely have time for the little stuff let alone the big stuff.

Actually, when I do have a bit of time I need to do spot repairs and use the paint that's on the car now as a base instead of going all gung ho.

So when I start talking rotisserie and all that stuff please please slap me and pull me out of that state of mind or it'll be the end of enjoying my Charger!

Thank you

Hows that?  Didn't even need a camera either.   :nana:  :D

On that note. I feel your pain. Be glad you have a hard flat surface and a garage that you can work on/in.   :Twocents:

My Dart needs many of the same things your Charger needs but I still enjoy it every chance I get. My Charger is just a bare shell sitting as it has for a few years now. The engine is done, custom interior ready, and a pile of new parts stacked to the rafters. Just no time to do anything with it. :-\
If you mention rotisserie or restore again I'll send you a pic of my forlorn Charger just sitting there. That should deter you. :nono:

It's true, every time I see a stripped down Charger, the need to work on mine goes away for a while.   :icon_smile_big:

Baker you're right, I am glad I have a garage at least but you know how it goes, there's always something else you want.   :yesnod:

That's what I was thinking.  Finish college, settle in to a routine and then start looking for a way to restore the car.  I've been buying small parts left and right, luckily I don't need too much.  I will end up installing new seals though just to keep the rain out.  I have roof rail seals and vent window seals ready to go in.  When I redo the interior I will pull the windshield, remove the dash and restore those parts.  If I feel bold enough I may redo the heater box although so far it's working fine so I may let it be.

That's the thing with me, I don't know when to stop.  I remove one thing and then say, well I might as well do this while I'm at it.  And before you know it you have a hundred boxes of parts all over the place!   :icon_smile_big:

I feel your pain Dino,
You probably remember when I started my car, which was only re-coloring the dash. It's still not done, dash is out, I wasn't going to touch anything else. Now the heater box is out, wiring out, steering column, wiper motor and linkage out etc.

You gotta draw the line somewhere or it will be never ending.
