Muscle Car theft ring in Idaho and Washington

An article in the local news here in Missoula, MT.  The scariest part of the story is that the thieves have stolen 50 to 75 muscle cars in Idaho and Washington.

Biggest boom-stick in the world won't help you or your car if you don't know it's happening.  Anyone heard of the new Lo-jack system for older cars like ours?  I'm definitely interested in that item, but I'm not naive; if someone wants it bad enough they're going to get it...

Just like cho-mo's, Theives IMO need to have hands cut off like over in the middle east when caught. I had a shop broken into a few years back and the crooks made off with about $7,000 worth of tools and auto parts!!! Nothing like the feeling of being raped without even getting to fight!! I had dreams days after about cetching the SOB's in the act and I had my Mossburg 500 and watching the 12 ga. deer slug going into their body!!! I would not hesitate a second to shoot a f'ing theif, pisses me off just thinking about it.

If you do make sure they are dead and then wrap their hand around an unregistered hand gun.  You can kill in self defense but you cannot kill for property theft.  It will be your word against theirs as to what their motive was! :-)

its sad you spend all ya time, money and so on, for some complete drug fu%^&ked ass hole to pinch it and either joy ride it and wreck it or strip it, its just a waste and makes it harder as one less classic car. .
there has been a few in this state in victoria australia, just burnt out after the joy ride,,,

Exactly dead men don't talk, The deer slug in my 12 ga. Mossberg 500 will stop the from talking fast, Aim for center mass and not their damn legs and you won't have to worry about some damn liberal judge throwing you in the slammer because you were protecting your property.

Security systems & GPS setups have better odds of helping protect a car than guns do.



Not that I have anything against keeping a gun around.

I started a thread months ago about an alarm system or some kind of detternt system and the concous was that if someone wants to steal it they will steal it no matter what even if its in Jay lenos garage it will be stolen. So most folks just recommended not to get one because its a waste of money.....

When I said "security system" I was thinking of cameras/etc on the property rather than alarms on the vehicle.  Car alarms aren't worth much IMHO.  

It's true that a pro will get past anything if he really wants the car.  But on the other hand the majority of thefts aren't done by pros.  IMHO there is some value in deterring the amateurs.

Guys there's a new Lo-jack/GPS specifically being marketed for classic cars.  Unlike typical lo-jack units this thing is self-powered, so it won't put a drain on a battery in a car that sits more than it runs.  I'm not sure on this either, but I was told that the unit itself is much less conspicuous which is necessary, considering that older cars are simpler and don't have as many hiding places as a convoluted, newer car does.  Another thing I'm not sure about is the GPS function and alarm functions; I think these units have the option to contact you the minute the car is moved.

Perfect place is in that weird dutchman support bracket behind the rear window.  Shoot you could run a wire off the speakers and power anything back there.
