I finally got the engine and trans back in my 1977 Charger I have a new dilemma. This was originally a 360 with a 2 barrel. I converted it to a 4 barrel but the intake that I chose added 2-3 inches of height which doesn't allow the hood clearance. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to cut the hood but not sure where to look for the vent/scoop. The other question is more of an opinion, Should I have it forward or rear faceing?

Ghoste

Forward facing.  The Chevy cowl induction look has gotten so overused and personally I never cared for it much in the first place.

Forward facing 6 pak scoop, I am probably gonna piss you off but man that front end is ugly as sin. At least it's a Mopar!  :icon_smile_big:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Musicman

What did you use for the intake... Performer RPM?

Front end looks fine by the way.

Big Sugar

Well I would agree with the 6 pac hood scoop, Cowl induction is pure ChEvY and it doesn't look good on a Mopar.

Nice Car

Indy I agreed with you at first, but the front end kinda grew on me. Personally I'd rather have an earlier model Charger, but I couldn't argue with free.

Musicman, unfortunately not, due to budget restraints I went with a Weiand Action+Plus. I will look into the 6 pac hood scoop.

Thanks everyone.

Can you get a drop base air cleaner or are you set on the hood scoop?  Shouldn't you change the cam also when you go from 2 to 4 barrel?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
