The D-Day invasion took place. Hats off to all the courageous soldiers who fought and died on the beaches of Normandy 68 years ago today. 160,000 Allied troops along with more than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion. More than 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded but more than 100,000 soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hitler. Thank you all for the great sacrifice that many of us will never completely understand.

A very big "AMEN" to the courage and fortitude of those brave men on that longest of days doing what took an incredible amount of courage and sacrifice for our future !!!

Can't imagine what it was like for those men.  Truly America's greatest generation.  Current generation could stand to learn a thing or two from them.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

The greatest generation for sure. The average Joe could learn a lot about being a man or woman from that generation. However, the Korean vets, the guys I served with 70-76, Iraq, Afganistan and all the other shitholes GI's find themselves in are still men among men as far as I'm concerned.
