Can someone post the steps to replace the front wheel bearings (inner and outer) on a 1971 Charger with disc brakes. Thanks.

Jack up the Car
Pull the wheel
remove the brake caliper
gently pry
the dust cover off the hub
remove the cotter pin & lock cover
undo the large nut
pull the rotor , the outer brg & washer will come off
re-install the nut
slide the rotor off over the nut , this will knock out the seal & brg on the inside
Clean out the grease , check the races in the hub , you may need to use a punch to drive out the races & install new ones , this is generally a good idea .
Install new races
pack new wheel brgs with grease
put new grease into the hub , make sure there is enough to flow into the brgs when warm
Install inner brg & seal
slide rotor onto spindle
Install outer brg & washer
tighten the nut & rotate the rotor until snug then back off about 1/16 of a turn to allow for heat expansion in the brgs
instal lock cover & cottor pin
install dust cover , brake rotor & wheel

Thanks again...."That was easy"! This Saturday the drivers side.

Actually you need to set the torque on the nut to 120-140 inch pounds of torque after seating the bearing using a beam style torque wrench...

Don't worry many will tell you the other technique is fine, but it's not. Lots of disc brake wheel vibration is because the nut is too loose...I hope this is not too technical.

That was inch pounds, you can use a clicker wrench, but be sure it's not a foot lbs wrench

Anyone got any pics of how the rear seal on the hub goes in?  I pulled both mine without thinking about it, and now...duh.   :brickwall:

Does the open side of the "cup" of the seal go toward the bearing inside of the hub?  Or does it face away, toward the ball-joint side of things?  It seems it should face the inside, but I've been wrong before...and I can't find any pics anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

the open side of the "cup" of the seal goes toward the bearing inside of the hub. The side with more steel faces out of the hub allowing you to tap it into place.
