Hey guys, I have one wire that isn't connected coming out of the steering column.  It's right next to the red battery wire but has no spot to be connected at the terminal (see location below).  It is a black wire but a much thinner gauge then the black accessories wire.  Is it just a ground wire?  Could this be why my horn isn't working?  It's on a '72 SE auto.  Thanks.

If the fuse is good and the horn itself is good then it's likely the ground for the horn.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I bet the ign switch wire is a new replacement, nothing NOS or something like that... I'm trying to get one sometime to test it. I bet its for an extra acc source or something like that to maybe 75 models ???.

That "open wire" location arrives into the orange wire location what is only used when you get steering column shifter. The underdash harness gets the orange wire ALLWAYS to that plug, but not the column section, since is only used when column shifter to the gear lettering light. The orange wire going to inside the column is not part of the ign switch harness but a diff wire what runs independently from the harness just using the ign switch plug. When floor shifter, the orange wire coming from underdash keeps open not getting a wire to run inside the column

you could test the black wire function on ign switch just checking continuity with Red wire. Check on which position of switch this thin black wire gets continuity with thick red and will know the use... however I bet will requiere to cut and remove for our application.

The horn deal is on turning switch harness. You can test if you get ground on THAT black wire when pressing on the horn button. Then if you get ground there, begin to track the problem inside teh dash/bulhead etc...

Great explanation Nacho.  I will test it with a meter with key in all positions to see where I get voltage.  Thanks!
