I have heard about two different Hemi Daytonas that I believe are still around and was wondering if they are accounted for as being known to still exist. VINS XX29J9B381532   and XX29J9B379736

Aero426

Yes, both are accounted for and are still with us.

Thanks Doug: It looks like the 379736 car was sold new in West Virginia. Is that car stil in WV? I have a friend that told me he knows of a matching numbers Hemi 4 speed that was sold new in WV and is there yet. He told me it is either R4 or V2. Just curious...Thanks

Pretty sure that one is R4.   It was listed as Phil J. owning it about 10 years ago.  But I remember that one of his cars was sold.   It could be this one.

Question......Do Daytona's and C500's have similar VIN numbers?

CornDogsCharger

Yes, they are both XX29 VINs with only a small handful of early C500s having a XS29 VIN. The the C500s were built before 1/1/69 and the Daytonas were built after.

J denotes Hemi & L denotes 440 equiped.

CornDogsCharger

Right.  To break it down a little more...

XX29 = C500/Daytona
J = 426 Hemi
L = 440
9 = 1969
B = Dodge Main Plant; Hamtramck, MI

I'm sure there is also break in the sequence numbers too but I'm not sure exactly where. The only way you would really know a date would be from the fender tag. It would be second row from the bottom and is a 3-digit letter and/or number that is the 5th group from the left. It will be right above the L9B or J9B. The first digit is the month 1-9 is Jan-Sept. A=Oct, B=Nov, C=Dec. The last two digits are the date 1-31.
