So, What do you guys do to stop your shoulder seatbelts hanging down

These bug me a bit and detract from the cabin by hanging down so far.
I was going to make a small clip that inserts into the hoodliner trim rail and peg them up or failing that have a small velcro loop attached back at the mount to take a small tuck out of the belt and pull them tighter to take the sag out of em.
Anybody got any tips ?

Hey Bob,

My 69 has the clip but the belt still sagged so when I had the new HL installed, the upholsterer sewed a small elastic loop on the end of the belt. I just slip this loop over the coat hook and its nice a taunt.

If it is a 68 or 69, there should be a silver snap button part that gets screwed into the headliner / roof area just before the coat hanger hook.  Originally, there was a V shaped section of black elastic material that had the female part of the snap that was sewn to the end of the seat belt.

I concur...lets just not start with the silver or black button thing again....  ;)

 A good mate of mine has a 70 500 and we punish him with Harmonica jokes  :icon_smile_big: , all in jest though, was keen on a 70 R/T 4 speed if this one didnt come off..

My belts are repops , not Ssnake Oyl's though, they were really expensive and these do have the elastic and dome and tags stitched in, I got em shipped out with the car

Thanks for the comments Guys and link from Just 6T9, I had forgotten what my old 68 Charger had back up there, this one has had a new headliner at some stage and is missing the coat hook and the mounted dome so I'll either mount a dome if I can find the hole or go with the velcro tie  but then I  saw this in the other thread

I took mine out and tossed 'em

I took mine out......but instead of tossing 'em......I put 'em on eBay.

Will be removing mine as well, useless belts.  Eventually I'm going to install universal three point belts intended for convertibles.  I'll have to get an extra pair of rear uppers so I can modify them.

Years ago, before I even started restoring mine, I sewed velcro strips on both sides of the belts and did away with the elastic because it will never last.  If you put the velcro in the right spots, it will allow the belt to stick to itself when the belt is buckled in to the roof holder and pulled tight - no sag.  Also, if you sew in another piece of velcro in the right spot, when buckle yourself in using the shoulder strap, the excess belt can attach to the piece coming across your chest so that excess isn't flopping around all over the place.  Just put my belts by in the car after a many years restoration and the velcro still works fine.

New 3 points are probably a safer way to go, but if you want to maintain an original look, this will work.

Bob T

Yeah, good tip, Thanks. Was going to have a look at the velcro idea after I have a poke around for the dome mount hole. Thanks for the replies Guys

I robbed the hangers out of a 70 Satty. If your headliner is out, you can see where the holes are to mount them.

Get a 70, no problems.   :icon_smile_cool:

You mean other than that ugly large mouth bass front bumper?   :nana:
Aah ha.  Mine hung low just a little.  Believe it or not it tied a knot into the old strecthy clip thingy.  Then if it hangs a hair I just twist it and as I twist it, it shortens and pulls it up.  If you sat in the car you wouldn't even notice unless you were looking straight at it.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

terrible one

tan top,

That's so wild! My Charger has the exact same plastic things installed, they work really well. They were on the car when I bought it and look pretty aged so I'm sure they're at least a decade old. For a long time I thought they were stock
