Ok - big question - where the hell does the factory cruise control wiring come through the firewall ?   :shruggy:

On 68-70 models I am fairly sure it goes through the opening that would be used for the clutch rod on a manual transmission car. I am not familiar with other years but they may be the same.  :Twocents:

Rolling_Thunder

Hmmm  --      Is that why you couldn't option Cruise control with a manual transmission?   :scratchchin:

Well that's not helpful - I am planning on installing cruise on my 68 Satellite vert with a 4-speed    :2thumbs:

I have original instructions for the factory CC kit and it states "Cut wiring grommet hole in firewall at dimple located about 4" to the right of the steering column".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Rolling_Thunder

Hmmm   good to know. I'll have to look for said dimple next to the steering column   :2thumbs:

I stand corrected, John is right. :2thumbs:  It is the vacuum hose that goes through the clutch rod opening, not the wiring. I installed a factory cruise setup on my 69 Charger a few years ago and thought I put the hose and wiring through the same opening. My memory failed me.... again! ;D :brickwall:
FYI; only 68 and 69 had the vacuum hose passing through the firewall. In 70 the brake switch setup changed and there was no hose used.

Here is parts book pic of the 68/69 setup.

Ah- I started freaking out on that as I do not have the part labeled "switch" - So I assume I can just use the later brake switch instead of the pictured switch that uses a vac signal?

So the 68-69 Cruise used a vac line through the clutch pedal pushrod hole. The 70 and later did not use that.  So - I just need to find this dimple and drill the hole there for the pass through on the wiring only.    :2thumbs:

For 68/69 there are 2 switches in the brake pedal area. The switch shown is for the cruise only. There is also a 2 terminal brake light switch (it is the same switch with or without cruise) that is not shown. In 70 they went to a 1 switch setup, using a 2 terminal brake light switch without cruise or a 4 terminal brake light switch with cruise (the extra 2 prongs being for the cruise)

I would think you could make it work, depending on what year your other parts are for and which brake switch you use.

This may help, here is the 70 parts book cruise page and a pic of the 70 brake/cruise switch.

I remember having the single brake switch with the 4 terminals on it if that is any help

Yeah - the 4 prong switch should be fine -  :2thumbs:

depends on the servo being used.

original 1968-69 servos had 2 vacuum nipples - one to the intake and one to the pedel  mounted switch

1970 and later there is only 1 nipple on the servo
