Some of you might remember my post about inquiring if any of you have had your car used in a tv show, movie, music vid, etc.  Well, I can now say that my charger is among the elite that have been selected for this deed.  I know a lot of you have been asking me personally about what movie, who's in it, etc and up until today, I could not say anything due to confidentiality clauses and such.  Well, since I have now been given the go ahead to let some info out to my friends, here it is.

The name of the TV Movie (which is being shot as a pilot) is : Americana

Starring -  Anthony Lapaglia  (star of Without a Trace, Analyze That, Empire Records movie, plus many other films and tv shows)

Here is more info at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2255731/

Sadly, they did not allow cameras or cell phones on the set so no pics could be taken with him and my car but who knows.... if the pilot does well enough, it might turn into a weekly series and I might have a better chance then.  Either way, my charger was used in a couple of shots and Anthony Lapaglia even drove my car (not for very long) as the shot was him turning the corner and pulling into a parking space.

I will say that the movie car company that picked up and dropped my car back off to me did a phenominal job of taking care of my car throughout the entire ordeal.  Someone was by my car the whole time and did not take my charger off of the flat bed till they were ready to shoot which added to the security of my charger from someone messing with it or bumping up against it.  If they were to ask to use the car again (as long as they paid me like they did this time) I would have no reservations about them using it.

As soon as I know more, I will be happy to update and keep everyone informed.

Great job. Hopefully it hits the screens and we can see it.

Anthony Lapaglia was born in Adelaide, South Australia (my home town  )

Does "tell a few friends" include post it on the internet

Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Depends on the movie, car, etc.  I got $250 a day and in total between the "audition" what they call a show and tell, I got a total of $500.

Consider that your red Charger might the next big craze, right up there with the Batmobile and Dukes. Cool.

Congrats Brian.  I see the girl that played Claire on Lost is going to be in it also.   :2thumbs:

It must feel good to have the car to pay you back for once.  Money moving in that direction is not a bad thing.  I'd be on the fence if I could handle it.  I'm a nervous wreck at cruise nights and stuff, watching people like a hawk near the car.  I don't know if I could handle it being on a set and someone else driving it.

Not to rain on your parade, but if the show makes it into a series, would they use your car and pay you for 20+ episodes per season?  That would be nice income if they did.  However, I would imagine as a regular show they would want something they owned, and either try to buy your car off of you or get one themselves?   Maybe production companies don't think that way but wouldn't it be more economical for them?  Maybe I'm wrong...  :shruggy:

Dan,

I was a complete wreck.  You can just ask the driver of the tow truck for the movie car company.  We actually started joking about how anal retentive I was with my charger when I was looking over it checking for dirt on the under carriage when it was on the flat bed.  At least he is a car guy too and understands where I am coming from.

Yes it is nice to finally have the car start bringing cash in vs. having to shell out all the money on it for rebuilding things and repairs, and such.  Either way, I wouldn't change it in a heart beat!  Plain and simple, my charger is my outlet.  The night before they filmed, I clay barred, polished, and waxed the entire car.  Detailed up the interior and even waxed the bumpers with pure carnuba wax just in case someone brushed up against them.  Yes, I admit to being anal retentive when it comes to my possessions like my truck and my charger and my house, even down to my kids and wife, however, its a proven fact that things that are taken care of last longer and earn more respect for the person who owns it.

Sheesh Dan, I can't even get one response in for you before you type in another one.     IF and that is a big if the show does become a weekly series, I am sure that they would either buy a 69 charger and make it up to look like mine (although I would still own the original) OR they might even offer to buy mine.  Which if they did make me an offer, it had better be enough money to allow me to purchase two of my car so I could at least replace it with one as nice as if not nicer than mine!

Trust me, I've already been thinking about that in my mind.  My parents say I should have been in the boy scouts as Im always planning ahead for the what if's or what might happen.  In the show and when my charger was being "audtitioned" they asked what my car was worth.  I gave them an honest answer and they said, nah this car has to be worth easily $103,000 in the condition it is in.  It could also be that they wanted a car that was worth $100,000 + as the star character was a millionaire and this was to be his car.  Now if they want to give me $103,000 for my charger, I'll personally deliver the title to them tomorrow!  Even if they want to give me $85,000 I still might jump at the idea.   Basically, as long as they could cover the cost of me replacing my charger with something as nice as if not nicer and I have enough money left over to get my wife a 65 mustang convertible in decent driver condition so she can have a toy like I do.

Oh, trust me.  I was!  I probably have about 20 more gray hair cause of the unnecessary worrying that I did but at least I covered myself by getting additional insurance through Hagerty as well as the 1 mil coverage from ABC Studios and a 1 mil coverage from the movie car company.  So I had multiple bases covered in the event of something happening.  Needless to say, there was always that thought in the back of my head.

But then, consider how famous a certain black Charger is now, all smashed and dented.  Do you want your car to be famous - or - just beautiful? :scratchchin:

Can't it be both?  I was already told that if something happened to my car it would be restored to back to the condition they received it in if not better than what they received it in.  Lets face it, something could happen to our cars if we are driving it to or from a show, on the way to a cruise night, even just out for a joy ride.  I didn't buy this car and restore it only to sit inside my garage in a bubble.  Yes, things happen.  Some can be avoided, some can't.  Everyday we take chances.  I took a chance and if something happened to my car, well, in the end, its a car and can be fixed or a new one bought.  It basically came down to thinking like this....... how many times would I get this opportunity like this to be able to say that my charger was used in a movie?  Let alone have it be the stars car or even have a star drive my car?

I know you, and I know me.... and there's no way I'd do that for $500 bucks. :rotz:

l give you major credit - because I don't have the balls for that.  I'd probably bail and pay them $500, just to avoid having my car being used. I can't handle that stress! LOL.  :pullinghair:

I'm glad it went well for you because I was really worried,...and its not even my car!  :P

resq302

Ah yes, but its only $500 now.  What if it gets used more?  What if they want to give me an absurd amount of money for my car so they can buy it and use it as a weekly series?  I view it as an opportunity of a lifetime.  I highly doubt I will ever get something as big as this to come along for my charger again, but who knows?

That's great!  Not something I would do either, but it's gotta be cool to have your car on TV. Hope it's a hit. I love shows with 2nd gen Chargers.
