Is it just me or do you guys get urked when you read a for sale ad about a car/parts and its full of "it appears to be" "Looks like"

I mean its your car/part your right in front of it describe it honestly.

Up for bids is this 1970 dodge charger hull. It is just a shell as the pics show. It is rough but it is a true rebuildable 70 charger. The cars underside is really better than you would think it would be. The good on the car is the car has the numbers on it still, The frame rails, rockers, and floor pans are good. I think this was a 383 4 barrell car.  The engine bay compartment and front rails are in good shape. It doesn't appear to have been in any wrecks or anything like that. The rockers look good. The floor pans look good. The bad is the rear section of the car. The car appears to have had a vinyl top on it at some point and it looks to have rusted some around the back glass and a few other places around the rear section. It could be patched but would take some work. The trunk floor is gone. It will need a new trunk floor. The taillight panel will need repair. The rear rails look to be useable. They look okay except for one spot on the drivers rear rail which I took a pic of. It could be repaired easy. The car will need quarter panel work as well. It is a project car as the pics show but these 70 chargers are gone so it is worth fixing. It could be repaired and put back together over time. What you see in the pics is what you get. You are basically buying a shell with numbers. I do not have a title to it. It will be sold with a bill of sale. There are companies out there that will get you the papers needed to get a title. They are broadway title company and international title company. There are also some states that don't require titles but only bill of sales so you will have to check with your states rules and see what you will need. I'm not hating on this guy in particular cause lets face it look at the pics you can see its rough. Gets to me in all these ads where things appear to be or look to be ok not rusty. After you ask if it will pass a pick hammer test then you get the line well there may be pinholes ect.

Ok some guys might not have a clue, but most do and just try to pass of junk. Nothing is more of a pet peeve than travelling hours to see something to find a pice of crap. Anything that is avaialble new/repro for my car i just buy new. By the time you think you have found a deal on  part and you waste time/$$ gas to find junk its not worth it.

What I hate is a car or part that is full of "easy fix"es. If it's so easy why didn't you just fix it and use it? If you're going to post anything for sale anywhere, TELL ME WHERE THE EFF IT'S LOCATED!!!!! I don't want to have to ask and find out that engine block is located in effing Antarctica or on the near side of the moon!

Yeah I found out about those "easy fixes" from my HLPAG car, they should have just said bend over and spell run!

No, the absolute worst is when the seller says the car comes with a phone number of the guy who has all the missing parts. Uh huh.

Anyone who would consider buying a car like that to rebuild, I would strongly suggest looking at it in person before diving in to such a project. Not to say it cannot be done.
I don't see where the seller has "grossly" misinterpreted the car. He states the rear back half is rotted (it is), doesn't have a title, etc. One frame rail needs work, most likely replacement, but he has disclosed that with a picture and in the ad.
Without a doubt, car definitely needs a lot of work. Shows in the photos.

BTW it's also only a $500 starting bid with no reserve, so it's not like the seller is demanding a lot of dough for it. It will sell only for what someone out there thinks it's worth & is willing to pay for it. Perhaps it will be restored, perhaps it will be parted out.

As I said I wasn't hating on this particular guy. I was saying in general I hate hearing the terms Appears to be or looks like. Its right in front of you if its damaged/rotten ect just say it. Not a appears to be. There were so many appears and looks in the same ad its what triggered me

You see the pics and its $500 bid so anyone in their right mind knows its a parts car or major project costing 10's of thousands.I'm not saying the guy is out to lunch. However in the begining he says the frame floors ect are good then later on in the ad he starts with appears and looks like.

I went to see a 70 hood a month ago about 2.5 hours away. I asked whats it really like i got real nice original paint. One lil spot of surface rust. i get there and the front corner edge was not surface rust ROT had seperated the inner from the outer skin. Complete junk IMO for a $400 hood.
Againt he guy used the it appears to be original paint and appears no work done. Ya cause it wasn't worth fixing.

At least the guy took some descent pictures that shows the rust instead of hiding it, it appears (I just had to get that word in there  ), that he is at least somewhat honest but like bill440rt said you really need to go visit it in person to appreciate the amount of work that it will take to put it back together.

-'looks' like all pieces are there minus missing floor pan, missing engine, missing tranny, missing windows, has rot everywhere
