Hey guys, I was thinking about buying this 400 motor and 727 trans out of a motor home. My question is, was the motor home motors tuned differently or are they the exact same as the motors that would have been put in passenger cars? You guys have any tips when it comes to buying a motor home engine & trans? Pardon my inexperience on the topic, even though I own a Charger I really don't know that much about mechanics.

Thanks

Depends on year, what  it came out of, and how many miles I bought a 77 440 out of a 25 footer and it is a low compression slug. The potential is there and it only had 38 k on it ,had to change oil pan ,pick up and waterpump housing but the rest went right in.The transmission maybe a lot different some have a different tail shaft. Don't
pay too much there are a lot if them out there. With the high gas prices people scrapping a lot of old r. v. s ALSO some come with the heads with extra cooling passages and the small plugs.I leaving mine stock this year. Next year hopefully it will be a 493 good luck.

I forgot about the year of the motor, it's a 1966 with supposedly low miles. Thanks for the reply though. This engine will be going into a shell ('74 Charger SE) that I am buying as a project.
