I have a 440 .30 over with hydrolic lifters with the Edelbrock Performance RPM top end kit.
I have been using royal purple but i'm wondering is there a alternative that is more affordable
and what weight should I use and should I use a zinc additive??? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd use Brad Penn 20/50 semi synthetic....it's loaded with Zinc/Phos so there's no need for additional additives.  ;)
